Lytle Head Coach and his Cross Country team consisting of Jacob Cantu, Adrian Reyna, Diego Reyna, Sebastian Garcia, Nathan Garza, Bryan Montes-Rodriguez, and Jaden Castro collected the Pirates 8th straight district championship on October 8 in Dilley.
The team scored 18 points to easily defeat runner-up Cotulla who posted 71 points and third place Hondo who finished with 88 points.
The job and quest for more medals and trophies marches on for Ruiz and the Pirate runners.
“For our second leg of our Championship Season we travel to Corpus Christi on October 20 for the Regional Meet in hopes of placing in the top four teams to earn a spot at the State XC meet to be held on October 31 at Round Rock,” Ruiz said looking forward to opportunities ahead of his squad.
Cantu dominated the field in capturing his first individual championship in his first year of high school competition. Cantu has three more chances to attain this goal.
