Marking 675 veteran graves in preparation for wreath ceremony

On December 3rd, Shirley Humberson, a Current Events Club member and Frances Plunkett President of the Alsatian Pioneers Daughters of Republic of Texas pose at the 5A section of the Devine Evergreen cemetery. This is the Current Events Club fourth year to bring the Wreaths Across America to the Devine Evergreen and St. Joseph Catholic cemeteries. These two people are part of the volunteer force that will participate in the Wreath Across America event this Saturday. The first stage consisted of placing yellow flags on 675+ verified veteran’s graves. Second stage took place on December 6, as the American flags were placed on the same veterans graves. The last stage is the main event on this Saturday, December 13th when there is a ceremony and many more volunteers place balsam wreaths with red bows on the veteran’s graves in both cemeteries. At the ceremony, all branches of the services are represented Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space force, and MIA.
