8th Colts Track District Champs, 7th grade places 3rd

The 8th grade Colts ran, jumped, and threw themselves to a District Track Championship last Tuesday in Pearsall. Devine scored 173 points to easily outdistance runner-up and Class 6A Del Rio who finished with 129 points.
The 7th grade had a nice outing as well as they placed third overall with 135 points. Competition was tight amongst these teams as champion Uvalde had 158 points while fourth place Del Rio was only 22 points behind with 133…

The 7th and 8th grade Fillys capped off their terrific 2024 track season as District Champions after owning the competition in Pearsall last March 26.
The 7th grade Fillys cruised to a 213-159 advantage over runner-up Del Rio while the 8th grade also topped Del Rio by a final point tally of 170-156.

The Warhorses and Arabians head to Floresville Wednesday, April 3 and Thursday, April 4 as the District 29-4A Track and Field Meet commences at Tiger Stadium.

The top four from each event advances to Area next week to compete against other top four finishers from District 30-4A for the chance to advance to Regional later in April.

Warhorses close out regular season track with 2nd place

Devine is more than ready to try to make up 9.5 points on the Jaguars at their home stadium this Wednesday and Thursday as Floresville topped the Warhorses 164 to 154.5 in the final regular season track meet last Thursday in Natalia.
Tanner Davis, Rowdy Esparza, and Donovan Dixon look to repeat gold medal performances as they each won their individual events at Mustang Stadium as Davis took Pole Vault, Esparza Long Jump, and Dixon 400m.

Cloud of dust: Arabian track smokes competition

The cloud of dust in the air last Thursday in Natalia at Mustang Stadium was what the Arabian track team left in their wake did to their counterparts as Devine won their final regular season meet of the 2024 season. The Arabians, along with the rest of District 29-4A, travel to Floresville April 3-4 for the chance to compete at Area April 10.
The varsity scored 206 points in route to their championship performance. Floresville was a distant second place with 144 points followed by old district foe Crystal City who put up 82 points.

Devine can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Pearsall Mavericks as the Devine Warhorses made off with a 15-4 win. Winning may never get old, but Devine sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Lady Pirate Softball Highlights

The Lady Pirates picked up a much needed win in Hondo 21-11.

Danica Martinez produced her most outstanding game to date while leading Lytle to the win on Thursday. Martinez was dynamite, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and a stolen base.
Martinez and Lytle will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Crystal City at 6:00 p.m. Lytle has been struggling at home and they’ll enter the contest having lost three straight home games.

Lady Mustang Softball

Natalia won the last time they faced Dilley, and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went the Natalia Mustangs’ way against the Dilley Wolves as the Natalia Mustangs made off with a 14-4 victory. With that win, Natalia brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Halfway through 29-4A, Horses in need of a hot streak on the diamond

The Warhorses play Uvalde this coming April 5 and they play Carrizo in Devine on April 9.

There have not been many diamonds in the rough on the actual diamond for the Warhorse baseball team as they sat 1-4 in District 29-4A going into the final game of round one last night against Floresville.
Devine was looking to build on their recent 3-2 win against Pearsall which hopefully leads to a spot in the state playoffs later this month.
