It was quite the productive trip to Cypress Chrisitan High School for the Warhorse basketball program as they finished runner-up, losing in the championship game to Kincaid after winning four of their first five ball games.
Mason Beaver and Karson Ray were selected to the All-Tournament team, leading Devine to an impressive 4-2 mark. That four wins in six games was not the only mark left, as the Horses proved they are worthy to take on all types of different competition as district season begins to creep up.

Mustangs runner-up in Natalia Classic

The Varsity Mustangs took second place overall at the Natalia Classic tournament with a record of 4-1 and finishing in a 3-way tie for first. After the point differential, the Mustangs secured second place.

The Lady Pirates lose nail biter to Ro-Hawks

The Varsity Lady Pirates are now 2-9 on the season with district play looming. In their last two contests, Lytle lost a close game against Randolph and then fell in an intense game against Eagle pass. However, no matter the situation, the Lady Pirates remained steadfast in their commitment to playing hard and competing until the final buzzer.

The horses darted out to a 19-6 first quarter lead before going on to their lopsided 77-29 win over Bandera. Devine scored in double figures in each of the four quarters including a third-quarter high of 24 points, while the Bulldogs highest output in any period was 11 in the second.

Devine was simply en fuego from the floor the last two ball games as they rung up 154 points in their victories over Laredo Martin and Jourdanton. The Horses gave Tony and the rest of the Tigers all they could handle winning easily 83-67 then smoked the Indians 71-37 this past Saturday, a game in which each player got at least a two-point mark by their name in the scorebook.
The Horses hit the pavement this weekend as they compete in the Cypress Christian Tournament.

In a growing trend of playing teams Devine players and there fans are not used to seeing is Coach Alegria getting Laredo Martin to travel to Sessions Court to take on the Warhorses prior to Thanksgiving.

The varsity Lady Pirates have continued to accumulate experience and cultivate their skills as the season goes on. Head coach Lori Wilson said the Southside tournament was a great learning experience for the team and they got to build valuable chemistry before heading into Thanksgiving break.
