Lytle clenches the Bi District Title

The Lytle Pirates celebrated after receiving the trophy for winning the Bi District Title beating the San Antonio West Cougars. They will face Hallettsville on Saturday.

With a playoff game on the line, Lytle rose to the challenge on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the South San Antonio West Cougars a 17-0 shutout. Considering Lytle has won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday’s blowout was nothing new.

Calyssa Sevier 6th in 400m at State Track Meet

Calyssa Sevier PR’d and placed 6th at State in the 400m run.

Lady Pirate Calyssa Sevier placed sixth in the 400m Dash at the State Track Meet in Austin at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus on the University of Texas.
Head Coach Gilbert Ruiz stated that Calyssa was “competing against a very fast field.  Five of the nine were returning from last year’s 400m race.”

Lytle Pirates faced Natalia; capture District

The Lytle Pirates beat the Natalia Mustangs winning District, they will go on to face West Campus in the Bi-District playoffs.

The Pirates defeated Natalia at home last Tuesday, April 23, 2024, 4 – 2 on great pitching from Jair Flores. Flores threw a complete game and allowed 2 unearned runs while striking out 8.

Pirates victorious over Javelinas

Lytle is 9-0-1 against Natalia since February of 2018, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Johnny Alvarez, Rudy Cepeda, William Davalos, Sebastian Garcia, Chase Guevara, Bryan Montes-Rodriguez, Brandon Obando, and Abel Sanchez represent Pirate Track and Field at this weekend’s Regional Meet in Seguin at Matador Stadium. At Regional, the top two finishers from each event advance to the State Meet in Austin Thursday, May 2.
The Pirates placed third as a team with 94 points, trailing only champion Jourdanton who posted 134 and Poth who netted 102.

Klayre Cook, Svetlana Lopez, Laleina Reveira, Frances Scotello, and Calyssa Sevier represent Lady Pirate Track at this weekend’s Regional Meet at Matador Stadium in Seguin. At Regional, the top two spots advance to State in Austin Thursday, May 2.
The Lady Pirates placed fourth as a team with 63 points at last week’s Area Meet in Jourdanton as they trailed only champion Poth, runner-up Hondo, and third place Crystal City.
Amazingly, Lytle did this with the lowest number of participants between each of the top four teams.

Lady Pirate Track & Field 3rd Place in District 28-3A

The Lady Pirates had a heckuva showing in Natalia Wednesday, April 3 at the District 28-3A Track and Field Meet as they finished third place with only eight varsity members comprising the team.
Lytle scored 102 points to place behind champion Hondo who tallied 153 and runner-up Crystal City who scored 151 points.
Head Coach Gilbert Ruiz was more than pleased with what he saw from his young team as there was one senior, one junior, four sophomores, and two freshman battling their way to that triple-digit point total.
