Northbound ramp in Lytle at IH-35 to be closed for weeks starting today
TXDOT will be closing the NB entrance ramp to IH-35 (the one by Lytle State Bank) from Sept. 21 thru Oct. 4. They will be doing construction / road work. While that ramp is closed you will need to use Main St to access the NB entrance ramp just inside Bexar County (once you cross the overpass).

Come join Biry Hermann Son’s Lodge for line dancing and clogging classes Thursday nights beginning at 6 PM at the Hermann Son’s Lodge located at 111 South Teel in Devine.

Area Veterans, Devine Wants You… For Grand Marshall
The Devine Fall Festival Parade this year will feature area veterans as Grand Marshalls of the parade. Veterans from all branches of service are asked to participate. They will occupy the lead cars and floats and will be recognized at the grandstand at the parade finally.
The Fall Festival Parade is on November 5, 2022. Judging of parade entrants is at 9:00 AM and step off is at 10:00 AM.

9th Annual DJ Carlson Memorial BUST N BURN shoot, bbq event Sept. 9-10
The 9th Annual DJ Carlson Memorial BUST N BURN will be on September 9-10, 2022, the second weekend of the month yearly. The two day weekend event will feature a barbeque cook-off, sporting clay shoot, cornhole and washer tourneys, live music and entertainment!
Champions Barbeque Alliance Cook-off will feature chicken, ribs, brisket, and pork butt; with a $5000 Pay Out.
The 12 station registered sporting clay shoot always draws a lot of sponsors and teams and many awards are given including scholarships.
Friday during the day there will also be a cornhole and washer tournament and Friday Night DJ Rockin’ Reece/ Karaoke.
On Saturday there will be entertainment all day during.
Saturday night will round out the night with a dance featuring the Jeremy Richards Band from 8-12 midnight.
A $10 cover charge wrist band will cover both days.
The event is hosted at the Levy Ranch in Moore each year at 2111 W. FM 462, Moore, Texas 78057.

DJ Carlson Memorial is a 501-C3 charitable organization established in the memory of DJ Carlson who lost his life way too early in an automobile accident. The organization uses the proceeds to give out scholarships to local youth in area communities and other worthy causes to help youth and families.
Devine citywide yard sale slated for Oct 22
Devine Youth Football League Sign-ups August 21 & 28
The Devine Youth Football League (DYFL) will host sign-ups on Sunday, August 21 and August 28th from 10 am to 2 pm at 717 Tuttle Drive in Devine. The registration fee for tackle football is $100.
There will be a JR division which consists of 3rd and 4th graders and a SR division made of 5th and 6th graders. Games will be played against surrounding towns. The student must attend Devine ISD.
In order to register you must bring a copy of the child’s Birth Certificate (required).

Attention Farmers: BMA sets earlier cut-off date for water orders… Sept. 15

Customers who purchased allotments for agricultural irrigation with the Bexar-Medina-Atascosa Counties Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 have until Sept. 15 to submit orders water for the remainder of the year, BMA field manager Brian Sullivan said.

Devine ISD to host
Meet the Teacher Nights
All campuses in Devine Independent School District will host parents and students to a “Meet the Teacher” night at the following dates and times:
JJ Ciavarra Elementary – Thursday, August 18 – 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Devine Intermediate – Thursday, August 18 – 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Devine Middle School – Tuesday, August 16 – 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Devine High School – Tuesday, August 16 – 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Parents and students may go to teachers’ classrooms any time during the time periods listed above.
At the elementary and intermediate campus, parents may bring labeled school supplies to their child’s room. Parents will be able to put money in the child’s lunch account, join PTO, donate gently-used school clothing, and confirm bus numbers and routes.
Elementary and Intermediate students should receive a postcard in the mail next week stating their teacher(s) for the school year. At both campuses, parents may check in the office if they are unsure of their child’s room assignment and/or if registration information is not complete.
Middle and high school teachers will be in their classrooms to talk to parents about their classes and about the expectations of the class. Middle school students may pick up their class schedule in the cafeteria. If you have any holds such as immunizations or proof of residency, report to the office to turn in your documents and pick up your schedule. High school student schedules will be given out in the multi-purpose room.
Reminder: All immunizations (when applicable) and proof of residency requirements (3rd, 6th, and 9th graders) must be complete before students can pick up their schedule and attend school on the August 22nd. If your student recently received immunizations, please bring an updated record to the school office at your earliest convenience. Proof of Residency documents should be emailed to enrollment@devineisd.org or dropped off at the campus office.
If you are needing help with the Parent Portal, the computer lab at Devine Middle School will be open each Tuesday in August, starting August 9 at 6:00 p.m.
