The long hot summer has not come to an end, but the calendar shows school starting and return to the events at the Shooting Star Museum. We are re-opening October 6th!! Open Sundays, 1 – 5 pm. Here’s what’s coming up!
Quilt Show and Sale – October 19th
The first even of this fall will be held in Castroville outside the Medina Valley Dental offices! The ladies have made many new Quilts for show and for sale. The Quilt Show and Sale will be Saturday October 19th from 10 am until 3 pm. Come out to see these beautiful masterpieces and perhaps find one that needs to live in your home!
Veterans Day show – Nov 10th – Cannon Shoot!!
The museum is again proud to have our Veterans Day event. Sunday Nov 10th we will be open early so that everyone can enjoy the “recreation” of WWI cease fire. Gate opens shortly after 9am so that you can walk the displays and watch the Fire Team prepare for firing the final shot at 11am.

Tuesday, Oct. 1st

Natalia has been hosting National Night Out since 1985. The annual event has grown with hundreds in attendance. Along with free food, goodie bags and prizes there will be games for kids with local businesses to get aquatinted with. Our Natalia Police and Fire Departments will be there joined by Medina County Sheriff’s Office. The goal of NNO is to heighten crime and drug Prevention Awareness. We continue to strengthen neighborhood and community partnerships. The event is held every year at the Natalia Police Department, the entire block of 300 3rd Street from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Devine Little League is looking for members to join. They will be holding meeting on September 25 at 7:30 pm at the Devine Little League office. New board members will be voted on and a review of the Devine Little League Constitution.

Seeks Area Artists for Annual Show Sept. 28th in Lytle

Friendship Art Club calls area artists to participate in the 2024 Arts and Crafts Show on September 28 at Lytle Community Center. The annual show, which is from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, offers artist booths, student exhibit, judged competition for adults and students, people’s choice competition, and a raffle.
Applications for booths are now available from Jane Brown (janebrown@satx,rr,com or 210-415-2546). The deadline for applications is Friday, September 13, and booth space is reserved when the fee ($25 for members, $35 for nonmembers) is paid. Artists may exhibit paintings, photography, and drawings as well as 3-D objects such as wood, metal, clay-plaster, jewelry, mosaic, stained glass, etc.
Both club artists and guest artists (nonmember) are eligible for the Judge’s Choice Competition, and entries will be submitted on September 27 from 12 noon to 2:00 pm. No entries can be submitted after 2:00 pm. All entries for the competition must have been completed in the last three years, be wired for hanging, and meet criteria of originality and artistic technique. The People’s Choice Award is determined by votes of the public attending the show. Entries in the student exhibit will be judged separately.
The show, open to everyone, is free, and voting by the public is also free. The raffle includes some 25 items. Raffle tickets are $2.00, and they can be purchased at the door or from art club members.
Food trucks will be on site during the show, and the club has a hospitality booth.

Every Tuesday morning the Lytle Friendship Art Club meets from 09:30 to Noon at the Church of Christ located at 15340 Main Street in Lytle, TX. Bigfoot VFD will host its 16th Annual BBQ Fundraiser on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Bigfoot Park. We will be serving BBQ brisket and Kiolbassa® sausage plates for $14.00 starting at 11:00 am. We always have a Bake Sale with homemade treats and some great items in our bid sheet and ticket auctions too. Since we always strive to improve our service to our community, we’ve added representatives from different agencies with information about a variety of programs and services that are available. Frio County landowners will also have the opportunity to sign up for the very popular landowner notification program. Vendors will also be set up with some nice items to sell. We always have a great time catching up with friends and neighbors we haven’t seen for a while. We look forward to seeing you on September 21st for some fantastic BBQ and lots of fun! DEVINE HOMECOMING IS A TWO-DAY EVENT! There will be lots to do and celebrate at Homecoming and it is too much for just one evening! So, we have two days to celebrate! A little something for everyone!
Friday night will be the annual Homecoming football game at Warhorse Stadium. Come sit with your classmates and friends, sing the school and fight songs, and cheer the Warhorses on to victory!
On Saturday there will be lots going on at the old Green Alamo (VFW) with an afternoon gathering of alumni sponsored by the Devine Ex-Students/Teachers Association (DExSTA) in the VFW Hall. Registration underway, non-members can join this year

The Devine Hermann Sons Dance Class this year is allowing Non-Members of Hermann Sons to join the Dance Class. Registration is underway and classes will begin September 9th at the Biry Hermann Sons Lodge at 111B S Teel, in downtown Devine.
Members of Hermann Sons this year will pay $35.00 per month for 9 months. Non-Members will pay a $200.00 Registration Fee and $35.00 per month.
