Another slow week at Lytle P.D., officers handled 51 calls for service and conducted 37 traffic stops. Those stops resulted in 16 citations and 21 warnings.
Officers made three arrests last week: #1 – Officers responded to H.E.B. Plus for a report of a shoplifter. The female suspect had unpaid merchandise in her purse. Getting Ready to be Excited
I would not pretend to understand the mindset of all the folks who read The Devine News, but I am kinda/sorta sure that some portion of those, at least those nice enough to read my Tales, are in about the same mood as I am getting to be in. And that is about ready to become excited.
Visiting the Local Judge’s Office
I remember the time I went by our local JP office to visit and when I arrived the judge was in despair because the computer with all their records had crashed. I asked the judge if I could look at it so I took it apart and found the problem and got it working; somewhat. The judge was excited and wanted me to backup all the files we could because their backup had failed. That event reminded me of something in the Bible. There are books of records in heaven and everything we have ever done is recorded there, (Revelation 20:12-15). The judge said, “Let’s look at your records” and we typed in my name. To my surprise it went back years and yes, there were some offenses, (minor traffic) but the fines had been paid or taken care of. That reminded me of my life before I accepted Christ and there were numerous sins in my life that had not been dealt with or forgiven but when I accepted Christ, I acknowledged or confessed them and asked Christ to forgive them, (1 John 1:8-10, 2:12, Romans 4:7). As the judge looked at the more recent years there were no offenses. The judge said, “You are in good standing with this court and you are free to come and go as you please” (Galatians 5:1, 8:1). Where or how do we really stand before God? See you in Church next Sunday. Brother J
Human Training…for Dogs
This column will offend many dog lovers. Please accept my apologies in advance. I myself am a dog lover. I believe dogs are among the very best creations on Earth. Fewer things provide more pleasure than a loving relationship with a well-trained and well-behaved dog. But, the hardest part of training dogs is training their human masters.
A different fruit
As I looked at the date on this column, I realized that exactly three months from now, Christmas not only will have been here, it will be all over but the shouting! The 24th and 25th fall on a Sunday and Monday, yikes…gonna be a tough one, guess I’d better get busy!
End Zone Celebrations…
I ain’t gonna do it….but, there is a lot of interesting news goin on. I would suggest that those who usually get their information from the mainstream media watch Fox once in a while. I know that I heard one reporter call the City of Eagle Pass “Illegal Pass”, but I think it was a slip of the tongue.
36 calls for Service
It looks like our call volume was way down last week, we only had 36 calls for service. I was on vacation, so I missed out on all the “slowness”, just my luck. Officers conducted 91 traffic stops, those stops resulted in 56 citations and 35 warnings.

Update on Vaccines
COVID vaccines are out again and currently you can choose between Moderna vaccine or Pfizer vaccine. The bivalent COVID vaccine is no longer available. We had a few people come in asking for it this week. We have moved on to updated COVID vaccines that should provide better coverage for current strains. If you choose to get the vaccine and have insurance or Medicare check with your pharmacy or your doctor’s office for current stock.

How to Enjoy the World’s Best Coffee
There is a scene in the movie Elf where Will Ferrell, as Buddy the Elf, barges into a diner in Times Square after observing a window sign to congratulate the occupants on serving the “World’s Best Cup of Coffee.” We assume that the sign’s message is an exaggeration. Most of us have been disappointed by diner coffee before. But what if I told you there really was a way to enjoy the world’s best cup of coffee (or close to it) at home, in your kitchen, every day. Read on coffee lovers because you are in for a treat.
