It did not take a sign language expert to know Devine’s playoff-seeding showdown against Pleasanton was going to be one of the bigger games in recent memory for Warhorse Nation.
Devine and Pleasanton had already played two classic matches during the District 27-4A season and had to play one more time to break a 1-1 tie with the winner getting the nod for the top Division II team in the state playoffs.
The Eagles topped Devine in the first matchup 60-58 on January 20 while the Horses returned the favor on Sessions Court 65-63 on February 13, a night that crowd tensions and finger-waving was taken to the next level.
