Lucille Marie Lowder Boyer, of Castroville, passed away on February 28, 2019 in San Antonio at the age of 93. She was born June 21, 1925 in Steelton, Pennsylvania, one of two children born to John Monroe Lowder and Anne Marie Alwine Lowder.
On November 9, 1944, Lucille married Charles W. Boyer, Jr. in the Panama Canal Zone while Charles was serving in the Army Air Corp. Lucille and Charles were married for fifty-eight years at the time of his passing in 2002. After Charles passed away, Lucille moved from San Antonio to Castroville to be near her family.
Lucille adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Club and Hermann Sons Square Dancing, and a forever member of the Zion Lutheran Evangelical Church in Penbrook, PA. Bird watching and reading were her favorite activities.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Anne and John Lowder; husband, Charles W. Boyer, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Carol-Anne Boyer and brother, Dr. John W. Lowder.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Dr. John Nixon of Castroville; son, Mark Lowder Boyer of Castroville; grandchildren, Sarah Sherwood and husband, Ian, of Greenville, South Carolina, and Jeffery Nixon of Watkinsville, Georgia; and great-grandchildren, Tyla and Parker Sherwood.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 10:30 am at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Lucille’s memory to Castroville Nip and Tuck or the charity of your choice.
