The dreadful thing about Tuesday night basketball playoff games is The Devine News must submit to press early Tuesday evening which is prior to tipoff of all Tuesday night ballgames, no matter the sport or event.
Arabian Nation fans have to wait to hear the complete story regarding Devine’s February 19 Regional Quarterfinal state playoff game result versus the Lady Bears of West Oso until next Wednesday. Sigh.
Head Coach Jim Sessions stated before tipoff that a key to a quarterfinal championship was for his team “to limit the Lady Bears athleticism and aggressiveness in hopes of keeping West Oso off the boards.”
Grandiose thing here is even if things did not turn out the Arabians way in this one, they already hit the extraordinary 30-win mark against the Cherokees and will finish the season at some point with only 9 losses.
Simply incredible!…

The last qualifying meet lady lifters for the 2024 season was February 14 in Natalia as over 160 competitors took their final shot to continue their season.
While many females around the area were opening sweet, endearing Valentine’s Day cards and quite possibly shedding a happy, heartfelt teardrop or two while at the same time smacking on some caramels and chocolate as their significant other realized how much he just paid for a box of mixed deliciousness, Arabian powerlifters were grunting and groaning, dripping in sweat as hopes danced in their hearts…

Despite giving up only three runs on three hits to Canyon Lake, Devine could not muster a comeback to win their 2024 season opening 3-2 loss at Warhorse Stadium on Monday.
Devine’s bats were cold as they only managed a single, four walks, and a hit batter over seven complete innings.
Canyon Lake looked like they would take their bus trip home in comfort after taking a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Devine had other ideas.
The Warhorses scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to pull within a run but could not work their way all the way back. Guardiola was hit by a pitch with one out to get the Horses semi-rally going.

Dag Burn It! It was there for the taking. Devine just needed a win at home against the visiting Carrizo Springs Wildcats to secure a spot in the 4A basketball state playoffs. A late one-point lead swung the other direction as Carrizo Springs escaped the DSAC with their own playoff-clinching victory 56-55.
Devine entered the final night of conference action at 4-7, one less victory than Carrizo Springs who popped in at 5-6. However, the Warhorses won round one 55-54 and held the tiebreaker over the Wildcats had they finished with identical 5-7 District 29-4A records.

Switching up normal tournament formats is a terrific way to keep golfers excited about playing, and maybe it even makes them forget about cold temperatures every once in a while, while also adding a little pressure at the same time as both scores counted toward the standings.
The Arabians and Warhorses mixed and matched their way to a 3rd place overall finish as they had five, two-person teams in the field.
Brianna Schaefer and Jameson Ramirez teamed up to earn bronze medals..
