Natalia Head Cross Country coach Kendra Spangler continues to push her squad toward their first meet August 24 in Karnes City.
“Our first week was great! We have a talented group of hard workers that are both dedicated and enthusiastic about this season.”
With a little more time to continue preparation for a regular season meet, Spangler “aims to build on that momentum by enhancing our endurance and getting ready for our upcoming season.”
Best of luck to the Natalia Cross Country coaches and team members this season!

The Cross Country Coaches Association of Texas came out recently with its preseason poll ranking the top 10 teams they think have a chance to make a splash during the upcoming 2024 season.
To no one’s surprise, Lytle ranks right near the top in both the boys’ and girls’ poll as the Pirate runners are ranked second while the Lady Pirates are ranked third.
Head Coach Gilbert Ruiz realizes preseason rankings are nice and all, but it is the ranking in Round Rock that matters most once the season is said and done in early November.

It’s time to gather up those peanut butter jars and bring them in! You also have the opportunity to donate $2 online for each jar.

Thank you once again to Steve Teel and Coach Rittimann for allowing us to participate in this event!
Rank One completion a must for all HS & MS student-athletes

In an effort to cut down the number of trees cut down for yearly monotonous paperwork, Rank One is online for parents of all student-athletes to either begin or update forms a school district must have on file prior to a student’s first day of practice.
All forms should be ready to fill out on the website listed below, except for the student’s annual physical which must be submitted in person prior to first workout as well.
All coaches and administrators appreciate the time taken to complete all forms and physicals prior to the first actual practice.

DMS Colts/Fillys parent meeting, clothes pickup Aug. 19

Put August 19 on your calendar if you happen to be the parent of a Devine Middle School Colt or Filly athlete as clothes pickup and a parent meeting occur on that particular day.
Filly athletes can pick up their workout clothes from their respective coaches between the hours of 2pm and 4pm.
Eight grade Colt athletes can get their garb between 2pm and 3pm while seventh grade Colts follow from 3pm and 4pm.
The all-important parent meeting for all DMS athletes begins at 7pm in the DMS cafeteria with breakout sessions for specific sports soon following.
This would be a wonderful time to turn in all medical paperwork in person, as well as a great date to have Rank One paperwork completed online.
If you have any questions, please contact the DMS Office at 830-851-0610.

Mustang Football:
“Our kids are the hardest working kids I have ever been around”
Mustang Football is expecting around 60-65 kids to come out this season. New Head Coach and Athletic Director Jason Reynolds said they will carry 2 teams this season, a JV and a Varsity.
“On day one our energy and effort was through the roof! I felt that our kids did a great job taking what we did over the summer and were able to just continue the work that we have been putting in since the spring,” Coach Reynolds said.
“Defensively, I was very impressed with how fast our kids adapted to our scheme,” Coach Reynolds adds. “Offensively our kids practiced with a lot of tempo, and I loved the amount of communication and accountability I was seeing between players.”

By playing a boat-load of games right off the bat, the Arabian volleyball team obviously knows how to get their fan base involved quickly into their 2024 season.
Devine began practices Monday August 5 prior to rolling out two scrimmages followed by five games and three tournaments over the course of the rest of the month.
After a 32-16 2023 campaign that saw the team go 10-2 to finish as the district runners-up, Devine is eager to get the ball served up to see where it may land once playoffs begin in late October.
