Devine was twice ready to run away with a victory over visiting Carrizo Springs last Friday as they took an early 14-0 lead and a late 28-14 advantage at Warhorse Stadium.
However, things got a little hairy on each occasion as the Cats shaved multiple 14-point deficits down, but the Warhorses buckled down to pull out the 28-20 victory.

What started off rough finished with a little polish as Devine bounced back from a Tuesday loss to Uvalde with a strong, hard-fought win at home against Carrizo Springs on Friday.
The Arabians were not at their best in losing to the Lobos in four sets but staved off furious Lady Cat rallies to take down Carrizo Springs in straight sets.

The Varsity Lytle Pirates fall to the Poteet Aggies after a grueling physically and mentally taxing game against the Poteet Aggies 13-0. The Pirates currently sit at an overall record of 3-3 and sit fourth in the district standings.

Warhorse XC Regional Bound

The Warhorse Cross Country team qualified for regionals by taking second at district!

Devine Cross Country runners Uriah Velasquez, Zach Guerra, Ryan Botello, Brody Lane, Shawn Lowe, Jesus Cisneros, and Zane Fritz have the opportunity to race for state as they qualified for the Regional Meet in Corpus Christi on October 21.
The Warhorses ran past five of the other six 27-4A teams as they finished runner-up with 49 points to outdistance themselves from Pleasanton, Pearsall, Uvalde, Carrizo Springs, and Somerset.
The one team that finished ahead of them in the standings was near-5A Floresville, which had 30 points to claim the championship.

DHS Tennis are Bi-district Champs!

Devine Tennis closed their last district match of the season against Carrizo Springs in dominant fashion, sweeping the Wildcats 15-0. 
Head coach Kandi Darnell said that this win was the result of several players elevating their game to meet the moment. The camaraderie among the players has fostered a deep chemistry that has translated to the court in a spectacular way. 
“Our players give each other a hard time when being competitive but are always ready to be each others’ support when needed,” Darnell said.
Darnell highlighted the boys doubles and mixed doubles for being steady all season. Despite a late comeback, the Natalia Varsity Mustangs fell to the Karnes City badges, 42-28. In their hard fought battle, the Mustangs scored 21 points in the fourth but could not overcome the early deficit set by the Badgers. The Mustangs have an overall record of 3-2 and currently sit at fifth in district.
In the third quarter, Natalia completely shut out the Badgers’ offense.
“Our defense did a great job of flying to the football and getting to the quarterback,” Head coach Jason Reynolds said. “That was the defense that we have seen all season. We were playing with a lot of confidence and I know we will get that from our guys moving forward.”
