Floyd Dale McOsker passed peacefully into eternity on Saturday afternoon, August 20 as he napped in his recliner. He was born March 6, 1927, in Faulkner, Oklahoma, to Cleve and Edna Arndt McOsker. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Donna, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley to farmland bought by his grandfather, David Arndt.
Floyd told stories of his early days there during the Great Depression. He was “forced” to run away from home with his big sister when she packed his clothes into a wagon and told him they were leaving. His mother, Edna, taught him to sew on her treadle sewing machine. He had made those clothes and wasn’t going to lose them. There were stories of a yo-yo string so long that he had to stand on the roof to use it. Once as he walked to school barefoot, a stranger picked him up, took him to town, bought him a pair of shoes, then sent him on to school.
The family moved back to Oklahoma in the late 1930’s. Soon after his parents divorced, and Floyd moved to California with his father, Cleve. After Cleve’s death, Floyd returned to Oklahoma, then to Kansas where he lived with his aunt and uncle, Clarence and Grace Wolgamot. As a teenager, he worked as a migrant grain harvester following crops from Kansas north.
In 1943 Floyd enlisted in the Marine Corps. After basic training he was sent to Okinawa where he trained for the planned invasion of Japan. Following the end of the war he served in northern China.
In the late 1940’s Floyd moved to San Antonio to work with his brother-in-law, Cameron Ayres, as a framing carpenter. Eventually Floyd, his brother, Kenneth, and Cameron, formed M&A Construction Company. For many years they framed new homes for builder, Ray Ellison. Prior to retirement, Floyd and his partner, Doug Cross, established Liberty Homes. They created several subdivisions in the northwest quadrant of San Antonio.
For over 20 years, Floyd served as trail boss for the Laredo Trail ride each February. It was in this capacity that he met his dearest friend, Jim Chessher. They enjoyed a close comradery long after Floyd retired from his trail bossing duties.
In retirement Floyd enjoyed golfing, maintaining his place south of Lytle, and building the occasional custom home in company with his sons, Matt and Bruce.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Nancy Bivins McOsker, daughter Sharon Pilgrim, son Roger Santos, and sons-in-law Jeff Zuercher and John Renken. He is survived by his wife, Doris Ohlinger McOsker, and his children: Linda (Dean) Tankersley, Matt McOsker, Benny Santos, Bruce (Yajaira) McOsker, Paula Adams, Audree Gierisch, Becky Fenton, Brenda Renken, Patty Pressley, and Cindy Zuercher, 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Floyd leaves behind him a legacy of integrity. He was deeply loved and highly respected by all who knew him, especially his wife and children.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at Hurley Funeral Home – Lytle, 14822 Main Street, Lytle, Texas 78052. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 10:30 am at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with the service being conducted by grandson, David Tankersley. Interment will follow at Black Hill Cemetery in Atascosa, Texas on IH 35 and Lucky Road.

Madilynn Macyl Mavity, of Devine, TX was born on August 11, 1989 in Fallon Nevada to Michael Mavity and Kimbra Sue Kelley Mavity went to sleep in death on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the age of 33. 

Madilynn graduated in Grantsville, Utah in 2008. Madilynn loved dogs, especially her dog Roxie.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother: Kathy Johnson; uncle: Reese Johnson; paternal grandfather: Mike Mavity and maternal grandfather: Bobby Kelley; step-grandmother: Emma Jean Kelley and stepsister: Krystal Forger. 

Survivors include her mother and step father: Kimbra K. Heinsohn and husband Hoyle of Devine,TX; father and stepmother: Michael Mavity and wife Jeannie of Dugway, Utah; maternal grandmother: Connie Nicholson of Devine,TX; paternal stepgrandfather: Dean Johnson of Utah; her Dog Roxie; her brothers: Clancy Mavity of Reno, Nevada, Weston Mavity of Utah and Hoyle Edward Heinsohn of New Braunfels,TX; sisters: Carrie Cooper and husband James of San Antonio,TX , Brittany Brown Walker and husband Jacob, of Devine,TX; stepsister: Jennifer Fonger of Terra Utah; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. 

Private Memorial Services and Inurnment will be held.

Infant Tyler Tru-Lauv Senegal was delivered to Jesus on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Tyler Matthew Senegal and Shawna Faye Thompson; his brothers, Princeton Ayvion-Ryver Senegal and Bentley Layne Martinez; sister, Kyleigh Alai’ah Reynolds; grandparents, Cynthia Faye Kaiser, Victor J. Senegal and Angela T. Senegal; uncles, Jeremy Senegal (Marjori) and James Alvis; and aunt, Betty Jean Alvis.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Maria D. Vasquez. She was called to our Lord August 1, 2022, at the age of 83, following her long battle with Parkinson’s. Maria, along with her husband, was a founding member of the Primera Iglesia Bautista Jerusalén, Natalia TX.
Maria is the oldest of ten and helped her family raise her siblings. Maria worked at Patio Foods on SW Military Drive for twenty five years, where she met her husband of almost 46 years, Raul D. Vasquez, Sr. Once the manufacturing plant closed its San Antonio doors, Maria and Raul began their next business venture on a full-time basis, Vasquez Grocery, at the corner of Fourth and Aubrey in Natalia, TX. Along the way, a new enterprise was added, with Vasquez Quik Stop, in the middle of town. Vasquez Quik Stop was a mom-and-pop gas station, tire shop, convenience store and living quarters. Maria, known by many as “Mary,” decided to incorporate a small café kitchen at the Quik Stop. Mary was very well known for her brown bag hamburger specials. Many students rushed to the Texaco during lunch in hopes of getting one of Mary’s famous burgers. These businesses provided numerous teenagers within the Natalia community an opportunity to gain their first work experience.
While Mary, did not have biological children, she was a mother to countless children. She helped raise many to include several nieces, great nieces/nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Early in marriage the opportunity to provide a loving home to two grandchildren resulted in their adoption. Melissa and JJ may not have been made in her womb but they absolutely were birthed and sealed in her heart.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Leonora and Manuel G. Uriegas Sr.; stepdaughter, Gloria Smith; grandson, Noah Hoover, granddaughter, Crystal Cooper; stepdaughter-in-law, Gloria G. Vasquez, stepson-in-law, Rudy Morales; and siblings, Rafaela Uriegas, Emilia Alvarado, Israel Uriegas and Maria Gracia Uriegas. 
Maria is survived by her loving husband, Raul D. Vasquez Sr. of Natalia; children, Melissa A. Vasquez of San Antonio and J.J. Vasquez of Natalia; stepchildren, Santiago M. Vasquez of Natalia, Grace Cooper (Talton Jr.) of Houston, Raul Vasquez Jr. of Natalia, Vangie Morales of Natalia; siblings, Elias Uriegas, Sr. (Socorro) of San Antonio, Oralia Padilla of San Antonio, Rosalia Ramirez (Israel) of Poth, Dalia Maldonaldo (Enrique) of San Antonio, Irma DeLaCruz of San Antonio, Manuel Uriegas Jr. of El Paso, as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Mary will be missed by countless people whose lives were made better by knowing her.

Visitation for Maria will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 8:00 a.m. to 9:30a.m., with a Prayer Service to begin at 9:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Natalia, 301 Pearson Street, Natalia, Texas 78059. Interment will follow at Devine Evergreen Cemetery.

James David Querin went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2022 at the age of 78 in Lytle, Texas.
James was born on October 22, 1943 in Medford, Taylor County, Wisconsin to Andrew and Caroline Kowalski Querin. James graduated from Medford High School in 1961. He later graduated from Kenosha Technical Institute in 1966. He married the mother of his children on January 23, 1965. James worked for AA Products Company in Michigan. He also worked for Southwestern Controls which took him to several states including Louisville, Kentucky, Indianapolis, Indiana and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
James is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo, Floyd, Verdie and Ted Querin and sister, Angie Kapfhamer.
James is survived by his ex-wife, Victoria Ellen Querin; sons, Thomas Michael Querin (Rosa) and Steven Thomas Querin; brothers, Eugene Querin and Gerald Querin (Jeanine); grandchildren, Joshua Querin, Jessica Valencia, Alissa Ellis, Ethan Querin, Andrew Querin and Maria Querin; great-grandchildren Violet Querin, Fleur Querin and Levi Querin.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home, 14822 Main Street, Lytle, Texas 78052.

Mr. Jesus Perez, of Devine, Texas, passed away on July 31, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 72.
He was born on August 14, 1949 in Hidalgo, Mexico to parents Arturo Perez and San Juana Valdez Perez.
Jesus was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Celia Perez.
Jesus is survived by his wife: Guadalupe Alicia Perez who he married on March 18, 1972; his daughter: Cynthia Valdez (Roy) of Natalia, TX; sons: Jesus Perez J Jr. (Lualhati) of Devine, TX and Pedro A. Perez of Devine, TX; sister: Imelda Perez; brothers: Pedro Perez and Humberto Perez; six grandchildren: Alex, Roy James, Sylvia, JJ, Kale and Jett; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home-Devine Chapel.

Cheyenne Nicole Sullivan went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2022 at the age of 26 years old. Cheyenne is survived by her parents Brian and Cindy Sullivan; sisters Krystal (husband Josiah) Ramsay, and Brandy (husband Ross) Shoemake; nephew Logan Shoemake; Niece Braeley Shoemake; grandmothers Bessie Sullivan, and Sally O’Brien; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers Walter Sullivan, and Odie O’Brien; aunts Sally Dossey and Shannon Huffman.
Cheyenne loved music, dance, animation, being a nail and cartoon artist. She enjoyed working at Tex-Spice, participating in her San Antonio Adults with Autism group, going on trail rides, and camping trips with her family.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on August 5th from 6-9 pm at the First Baptist Church of Natalia. The funeral service will be on August 6th at 11 am at the First Baptist Church of Devine, interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Reception to follow graveside services will be at Natalia First Baptist Church.

Frank Alfred De Leon went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2022 at the age of 73.
Frank is preceded in death by his Parents Alfred and Frances De Leon.
Frank is survived by his Sisters Frances Valles and Elizabeth Wilson; Nephews and Nieces, David Valles (Blanca), Adolph Valles, Janie Andrade (Mario) and Michelle Jackel (Lloyd).

Patrick Joseph Rooks of Universal City passed away on July 27, 2022 at the age of 51. He was born December 6, 1970 in San Antonio, Texas to Charles Lee Rooks and Anna Mae Coffee Rooks.
In 1989, Patrick graduated from Medina Valley High School. He earned his BS in Biology from The University of Texas at San Antonio and went to work in the insurance industry as a claims manager. He loved to hunt and fish, especially with his daughter, Kaiden.
On December 17, 2005, Patrick married Lisa Ann Benton in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were blessed with sixteen years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Rooks of Universal City; daughter, Kaiden Rooks; stepdaughter, Kimberly Folley (Bryan); grandchildren, Sebastian Folley and Bryleigh Folley; parents, Charles and Anna Mae Rooks of Natalia; brother, Clyde Rooks (TerriAnne) of La Coste; Deanna Huff (Chad) of Helotes; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
Patrick was preceded in death by his brother, David Rooks.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Our Lady of Grace Parish Hall. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste.
