CRIME OF THE WEEK: The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office along with Crime Stoppers is hoping that a reward of up to FIVE THOUSAND-DOLLARS being offered for one week only will help solve the burglary of a residence in the 3000 block of Bruce Road, 4 miles north of the city of Leming off US 281.
On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at about 2:40 pm Atascosa County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 3000 block of Bruce Road to meet with the homeowner for a burglary of the residence. It was reported to Deputies that the homeowner left out of town on Thursday, March 20, 2025. The neighbor went to feed animals on March 24, 2025, at about 10:00 am and discovered the back door to the residence was forced open. Once the homeowner arrived back at the property on March 25, 2025, the homeowner found the residence ransacked and numerous coins from a coin collection were stolen. The coins consisted of Liberty Head nickels, Washington Head quarters, Liberty Standing quarters, silver dollars, Eisenhower dollars, Buffalo nickels, Franklin half dollars, Kennedy half dollars, Roosevelt dimes, Mercury dimes and half dollars. There was also an 1881 gold coin and 40 – 1 oz silver bars taken. The estimated value of the stolen property is over $27,000.00.

Helicopter, K9 units, and dozens of deputies help capture suspect in hiding
Dozens of law enforcement officers were involved in the execution of a search warrant at a residence just outside Devine this past Friday, April 4. Suspect Juan Jose Pena, 39 of Atascosa, wanted for an armed robbery in Bexar County, was captured soon after he fled the scene.

Man gets prison time after dog leads to hidden drugs, gun
Press Release by Medina County District Attorney’s Office: On January 8th, 2024, DPS Troopers were patrolling Highway US 90 in Medina County between D’Hanis and Hondo. Around 1 o’clock in the afternoon, the Troopers noticed a Suburban with unusually dark window tint and an improperly placed registration sticker. Upon stopping the vehicle, the Troopers immediately began to be suspicious that the lone occupant of the vehicle, Fernando Pedraza, may have been concealing contraband in the vehicle.
A brief investigation by the Troopers led to additional suspicion and they called the Medina County Sheriff’s Office to send a Canine Officer to confirm or dispel their suspicions. A Deputy Canine Officer arrived at the scene shortly thereafter and almost immediately, the canine, trained to detect multiple narcotics, alerted on the vehicle. The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office along with Crime Stoppers is hoping that a reward of up to FIVE THOUSAND-DOLLARS being offered for one week only will help solve a theft that occurred at McCoy Water Supply located at 65 Parkfield Drive, 14 miles north of the city of Pleasanton.
On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at about 9:30 am Atascosa County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to McCoy Water Supply at 65 Parkfield Drive to meet with employees in reference to a stolen trailer and mower. It was reported to Deputies that the barbed wire fence was cut, and the thieves opened the double gates to the area where equipment is kept and took the trailer with the mower to where the fence was cut. The mower was unloaded from the trailer and stolen, and the trailer was left behind. The property was last seen the day before on Tuesday, March 18th, at 6:00 pm and discovered stolen that morning at 6:00 am. Deputies were informed that video surveillance had not captured the theft. The mower was described as a red in color Gravely Zero Turn Mower. The estimated value of the stolen property is over $4,000.00.

3/18/25 – An Officer was approached at the Natalia Police station and was advised an accident had occurred at a residence home on Palfrey St. The officer was able to advise both parties about the accident.
3/20/2025 – Officers were dispatched to the 400 Block of Palfrey for a disturbance. Upon arrival the caller stated that the other individual had left the area. Officers were able to make contact with the other individual and advised them to stay at their home.
3/21/2025 – Officers responded to 300 Block of Miller Street for a disturbance in progress. Upon arrival both individuals did not want to cooperate with the officers.

1/7/2025 – An officer was dispatched to IH-35 for an abandoned vehicle upon arrival he spoke to the owner who advised that he was getting a truck and a trailer to remove the vehicle.

21:34PM – Complainant on Davis Ave called in reference to vehicle parked next to house being renovated. ID’d by police, subject advised he was stopping to see friend but didn’t realize his family had moved out. Subject left without incident.
