Hail damage? Tips to file an insurance claim

Did hail or strong winds damage your home or car?
If you have wind and hail coverage on your home policy or comprehensive coverage on your auto policy, your insurance company should pay for your hail damage.
File a claim as soon as you can.
Some claim tips:
Take photos and video of the damage. Also, make a list of the damage inside and outside your house or car. Don’t throw away damaged items until your insurance company gives permission.
Prevent more damage. Remove standing water. Cover broken windows and holes to keep out rain. Save all receipts. Your policy may pay for temporary repairs.
Be available for the adjuster visit. Make sure they see everything.
Keep a list of everyone you talk to at your insurance company. Be ready to answer questions about the damage.
Ask about living expenses. If you can’t stay in your house, most policies will cover some related costs. Keep your receipts.

St. Joseph’s Octoberfest…Kids games and bingo is back, exciting LIVE music lineup

The St. Joseph’s Catholic Church is gearing up for a good time for a good cause this coming October 7th from 11 am to 11 pm. All proceeds from the annual Octoberfest will go toward the new replica prayer chapel this year. They are also excited to announce that the popular kid’s games and bingo is back this year as well as a great line up of live music.

There will also be a drawing for a vehicle donated by the Dunford family at Chaparral Ford, and a huge silent auction as always.
LIVE MUSIC
Lots of great live music is lined up. The tunes will kick off with a Mariachi band at 11am, DJ Reggie Pena will be there throughout the day, as well as Plata y Oro Folklorio dancers who perform from 12-1pm, a Christian band Closer Walk will play 1-2pm, the Solis Brothers 2:30-4:30, and Christ and Cassandra Salinas will play from 5-8. Groupo Vida band will be headlining the stage 8:30 to 11pm.
Admission
Admission is free until 5 pm, and $5 admission after 5pm.

Our Octoberfest signs are up! The festival is three weeks away. We still need volunteers. If you’re interested contact Ernie Morales at 210-415-6751. We are also in need of soda and water donations, you can drop those off at the church office. If you would like to make a cash prize donation for our bingo please reach out to Hazel Flores at 830-334-7351.

Thank You!! ATTENTION!!! Devine Little League Annual Meeting Oct. 4

The Devine Little League will be having their annual meeting Wednesday, October 4th 2023 at 7PM at the Little League Office in Devine to close out last season as we prepare for the upcoming season and will be open to the general public.
We encourage anyone interested in helping us with the new season to join our board.
We would like to give a huge thanks to Downing Well Services for all the help they have put into the field. We now have shaded bleachers and dugout shade, new fencing and a fresh coat of paint was done around the field. We would also like to recognize other businesses that have helped, Bulletproof Customs, Circle C Services, Triple S Steel, Cowboy Pest Control, Safety Plus, Parker’s Building Supply, Extreme Party Rentals, Navarro Electric, Land & Ranch Fencing Supply, Amigos Steel, Legacy Office Centers, MP Haulers, Harrison’s Supply & Market, Phillip’s Olive Orchards, STX Electric and Carl Patterson.

Safety and preparedness tips for the solar eclipse

Texans across the state prepare for the natural phenomena occurring on Oct. 14

With six years since the last solar eclipse, state officials are warning Texans to prepare for the Oct. 14 event as it is expected to draw thousands to the Lone Star State.
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s Disaster Assessment Recovery, DAR, unit, along with state emergency preparedness officials, urge individuals to be mindful of increased traffic and resources leading up to and the day of the event.

Serve and Succeed: The 2023 theme of the Wreaths Across America mission

For the second year the Current Events Club is excited to bring the Wreaths Across America (WAA) program to Devine Evergreen and St. Joseph Catholic cemeteries. This year’s ceremony and placement of wreaths on veteran graves will take place on Saturday morning, December 16, at 11:00 o’clock at the ceremony oak where the event was held last year. Join us as we participate in a program that spans across our nation and around the globe to honor our men and women in the armed forces.

TWRI Stakeholder Meeting Oct. 19th in Castroville

The Texas Water Resources Institute (TWRI) is hosting the first in a series of stakeholder meetings for anyone interested in becoming involved in a partnership to improve and protect the Lower Medina River watershed on October 19th.

Class of 1963 Reunion Brunch Oct. 14th

Southwest Texas Soil Testing Campaign to be held Oct. 16 – Nov. 2

There is a Southwest Texas Soil Testing Campaign for Dimmit, Frio, Kinney, Medina, Uvalde and Zavala Counties from October 16th thru November 2nd. Samples will be collected during this time, landowners may pick up soil sample bags, instructions, and forms at their local County Extension office. Cash only as payment when soil samples are dropped off.

AgriLand Workshop in Comal County on Oct. 24

We are now holding an AgriLand Workshop in Comal County at the Westside Community Center and Public Library, 2932 S IH 35, New Braunfels, TX 78130 on October 24, 2023.
Pre-registration is required and is OPEN online at www.alamorcd.org. We work to provide this service opportunity to all within the agricultural and environmental community in our area.
