Memorial Day event

VFW Post 3966 will present a Memorial Day ceremony for the public on Monday, May 26, 2025, at 9:30 am. The ceremony will be held at VFW Post 3966, 211 W. College Ave, Devine TX. This year the ceremony will take place on the east side of the Bingo Hall across from the Post Office. South Upson Drive will be closed for the ceremony.


Memorial Day honors members of the military who died in service to our country. The Post will hold the ceremony under the patriotic mural painted on the east side of the Bingo Hall. As part of this ceremony, we will recognize veterans who have passed away. If you wish to honor a veteran who has passed away, we will have a sign up prior to the event.


As in years past, the Post will have a flag retirement as part of the ceremony. If you have a flag that is no longer serviceable, please bring it to the ceremony to be retired. If you cannot attend and have a flag to be retired, you may drop it in the flag drop box at the main entrance to the VFW (near the flagpole).
Following the ceremony and flag retirement VFW Post 3966 will have free hot dogs in the Bingo Hall or courtyard, depending on the weather.

The Devine Current Events Club will be kicking off their Wreaths Across America program with an informational table at the ceremony site. After the ceremony they will be giving away ice cream in the Bingo Hall or courtyard.

Mission Devine will be June 2-6

Kick off service will be at First Baptist Church, Devine for the week of Mission Devine. St Joseph will host.

Everyone is welcome. We start every morning with breakfast and devotionals. Come back at noon for noon meal. Please help spread the word.

Sausage Plate Fundraiser May 3rd at Devine First United Methodist Church

Devine First United Methodist Church will be having a sausage plate fundraiser on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 11am-Sold Out. Plates are $12.00 each and include two sausages, beans, potato salad, and all the trimmings. The plates are available for to-go or to dine-in at the church fellowship hall. You may buy tickets ahead of time or pay at the door. All proceeds benefit the ministries of Devine First UMC. Devine FUMC is located at 212 W. Benton, Devine. Devine Lions Club golf tournament set for June

Club Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 7 with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
Chartered on April 22, 1952, the Lions Club can be found all over the United States and are the largest service organization in the world.
“We help in all different aspects of the community,” Devine Lions Club president Lewis Stroud said.

3 Devine FCCLA students advance to Nationals !!!

Several Devine FCCLA students placed at the state meet last Thursday.
Kamden Paige won 1st place with Interpersonal Communications and Collier Paige and Urijah Thompson won 1st place with their program National Programs in Action.
First and second places will advance to Nationals in Orlando, Florida in July.
Also placing at the state level were Amy Outlaw and Myla Sorrell received 4th place with their program Focus on Children.

This Saturday, April 19…Eggs-travaganza in Lytle

The City of Lytle is hosting their 2025 Easter Eggs-travaganza on Saturday, April 19 from 10:00 am to 12 pm. Registration starts at 10:00 a.m. at John Lott Municipal Park
Schedule includes: 10:00 a.m. Easter Bunny Appearance. Easter Egg Hunt if for kids ages 1-8 only and starts at 11:00 a.m. Keep your ticket for the basket drawing and egg hunt gate entrance. Fee is 1 canned good or $1 per child. Every year the City of Lytle hosts an egg hunt for the children of the city and surrounding area on the Saturday before Easter.

Devine Lions Club golf tournament set for June

The 35th Annual Devine Lions Club Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 7 with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
Chartered on April 22, 1952, the Lions Club can be found all over the United States and are the largest service organization in the world.
“We help in all different aspects of the community,” Devine Lions Club president Lewis Stroud said.
Stroud, who has been president for 25-30 years, says that their annual golf tournament is the only fundraiser and all the funds accumulated go right back to Devine, which includes non-profits and scholarships.
“We help Devine Salvation Army, Mission Devine, and we give 2,000 dollar scholarships to two Devine ISD seniors,” Stroud said. “Anywhere there’s a need, there’s a lion.”
Devine Lions Club help other non-profits such as Medina County Livestock Show, Devine Little League, Devine Youth Sports Association, Devine EMS, Devine VFD, Friends of the Devine Library, Devine Food Pantry, Medina County Crime Stoppers, Devine PD Blue Santa, Medina County Sheriff’s Brown Santa, Devine Police Nightout, Gift of Hope, and so many more.
“Hole sponsors are also very important,” Stroud said. “Hole sponsors pay $100, which is a form of donation — all donations of any amount will gladly be accepted.”
There will be three member teams, Men and Women.
Individual entry fee will be $100, this includes the cart, green fees, and beverages and one mulligan will be $10.
First place team will win $750 — sponsored by Brown Chevrolet, second place team will win $570 — sponsored by Chaparral Ford, third place team will win $450 — sponsored by American Momentum Bank.
Entry deadline is Saturday, June 7 and mail entry fee, form and check(s) will go to Devine Golf Course, 116 Malone Drive, Devine, Texas 78016. Please include entry fee for each golfer listed. If fewer than three golfers are listed, Devine Lions Club will complete the threesome from individual entries.
