BBQ plate sales Saturday May 4 for Wofford

There will be a benefit plate sale for Mr. John Wofford on Saturday, May 4th starting at 11am until sold out.
He is battling cancer and so the community is pitching in to help out. There will be two locations: Chopped brisket sandwiches w/ chips and a drink will be sold for $10 at the Devine Little League Field.
2nd location: A sliced brisket & sausage plate with rice, beans and a drink for $15 will be sold at the old car wash across from Parker’s Lumber Yard
Both will be held the same day May 4th starting at 11am.

Two big props for Natalia ISD voters, includes bonds for classroom and athletic facilities

New mural in town!

This new mural at the old Devine Vol. Fire Station, now occupied by NAPA Auto Parts, is full of Warhorse and Arabian pride. The beauitufl new mural was completed by art students at Devine High School. It is the most recent of many murals around town, which began with the mural painted on the side of Sherry’s Flowers in downtown Devine. Art Club students building Devine’s mural painting tradition pictured above are: Madeline Hein, Ximena Rendon, Adam Moreno, Ian Rendon, Isabella Ramos, Miranda Delgado, Deisy Ramirez, and Jayden George.

Donovan Dixon, Rowdy Esparza, Jesse House, and Ismael Torres represent Warhorse Track and Field at this weekend’s Regional Meet in Kingsville at Javelina Stadium. At Regional, the top two finishers from each event advance to the State Meet in Austin scheduled for Thursday, May 2.

It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. Devine baseball felt a sense of euphoria after annihilating Carrizo Springs 22-0 April 9, but the air came out of the sails April 12 against Pleasanton as they lost a tight contest 5-3.
Devine is 3-6 in league play with 29-4A action remaining at Warhorse Stadium against Somerset April 19, in Pearsall April 23, and back at home to close out the regular season versus Floresville April 26.

Arabian softball players #18 Maddie Brown, #6 Yaya Rodriguez, and #11 Hillary Barnett all scored homeruns last week.

Natalie Valle was a major factor in Devine’s victory over Carrizo Springs on Tuesday. Valle did her part (and then some), going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles for the ‘W’.
Devine gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past the Pleasanton Eagles 16-2. 16 seems to be a good number for Devine as the squad scooped up…

This past Wednesday, April 10, The Devine Colts baseball team traveled to Somerset for their second ballgame of the season and managed to escape with victories in each to run their overall record to 4-0.

The Colt Gold team escaped Somerset 13 to 9 to put their record to 2-0 on the season. Things did not exactly start off so great for the Colts as they had to scratch out the four-run, come-from-behind victory.
