Natalia Police Report

OCTOBER 5TH, 2026 — At approximately 4:50 p.m. on October 5, a patrolling officer located a stalled semi-truck blocking traffic on the I-35 frontage road near Mustang Estates. The driver agreed to have a tow truck dispatched, and officers conducted traffic control in the area to manage the resulting congestion. A short time later, with assistance from a travel stop technician, the driver was able to safely move the semi-truck to the nearby Love’s Travel Stop, restoring normal traffic flow to the frontage road.
OCTOBER 5TH, 2026 — At approximately 5:13 p.m. on October 5, an officer was dispatched to the Natalia High School campus regarding a potential minor collision. The vehicle owner reported that another individual had pointed out damage to his front passenger bumper, though he was uncertain if the damage was pre-existing or occurred on school grounds. The driver declined to file a formal crash report regarding the possible incident. Officers documented the contact, provided a case number for reference, and cleared the scene with no further action required.
OCTOBER 6, 2026 – On October 5, officers responded to Love’s Travel Stop regarding a theft report. A victim reported that several sensitive personal items – including a driver’s license book, birth certificate, Social Security card, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and DOT medical card – were stolen from her bag between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. that morning. The victim discovered the items were missing after traveling to Laredo, Texas, and returned to Natalia to report the theft. Store staff advised that there were no surveillance cameras covering the specific area where the theft occurred. Police documented the incident and generated a formal report. No further leads or suspect descriptions are available at this time.
OCTOBER 6, 2026 – At approximately 5:50 p.m. on October 6, an officer responded to a report of an individual in a wheelchair near a travel stop and located the resident nearby the Dollar General on FM 471. The officer spoke with the resident, who assured the officer that she was safe and simply traveling to the store as exercise. After offering a courtesy ride, which the resident politely declined, officers cleared the scene with no further action required.
OCTOBER 7TH, 2026 – On October 7, a family member visited the Natalia Police Department to report that a gate was broken at a home on 6th Street while she was securing the property. While it is currently unknown whether anyone entered the residence or if any property was taken, “No Trespassing” signs have been posted around the perimeter to deter unauthorized visitors. The Natalia Police Department has agreed to conduct extra patrols in the area to monitor the home for suspicious activity and prevent potential trespassing.
OCTOBER 8TH 2026 – At approximately 9:12 p.m. on October 7, police were dispatched to the Dollar General on FM 471 following reports that a subject previously told to leave had returned to the store. Responding officers located the suspect outside the building near the entrance and placed him in handcuffs. Store employees reported that the individual had been given multiple verbal warnings by management and staff over consecutive days to leave the property and not return, citing past altercations and panhandling. According to store staff, the suspect was instructed twice earlier that evening to leave but remained in the area. When questioned by officers, the suspect stated he had returned to gather discarded items and claimed he had permission to be on the premises, which employees denied. After store representatives completed formal trespass documentation, officers determined there was probable cause to charge the suspect. He was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and transported to the Medina County Jail for booking.
OCTOBER 8TH 2026 – A patrol officer observed a man walking on the wrong side of the road and stepping toward the middle of the highway, causing an oncoming vehicle to swerve to avoid striking him. Officers made contact with the pedestrian, who stated he was unaware that walking on that side of the roadway was against traffic laws. The individual explained he had been dropped off in the area to perform lawn work and was currently experiencing homelessness. After ensuring he was not carrying any weapons, officers provided the man with a courtesy transport to Haven for Hope in San Antonio to ensure his safety and access to shelter services.
OCTOBER 8TH, 2026 – According to police, the resident purchased two money orders – one for $1,000 and another for $200 – on September 8 and mailed them to his mortgage lender to cover a monthly payment. The issue came to light after the homeowner received notice of an overdue balance and contacted the mortgage company, which confirmed the $1,200 payment had not been received. A subsequent check revealed that neither money order had been cashed, leading the resident to believe the documents were lost in the mail during transit. Officers documented the incident and provided a case number to assist the resident with the financial recovery and tracing process. Authorities noted there is currently no evidence of theft or fraudulent activity.
OCTOBER 8TH, 2026 – Officers were dispatched to a residence on 7th Street after a complainant requested law enforcement assistance, stating they possessed a temporary restraining order granting them custody of a 3-year-old child. The complainant reported that the property’s front gate was locked, preventing them from retrieving the child from another relative currently caring for him. Responding officers conducted a civil standby and made contact with the relative at the residence, who stated they had not been served with any legal notice or court documentation directing them to release the child. Officers subsequently conducted a welfare check on the 3-year-old child. No signs of abuse, neglect, or injury were observed, and officers determined the child was not in any immediate danger.

Local law enforcement and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) coordinated at the scene, securing the area and requesting a wrecker. Officers set up traffic control at key nearby intersections, including State Highway 132 and FM 471 near Love’s Travel Stop, to divert traffic safely away from the burning vehicle. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured and provided a courtesy transport to a nearby truck stop (TA Express) while state troopers remained on scene to handle the investigation and clear the roadway.
OCTOBER 11TH, 2026 – Emergency crews responded to a downed power line and minor fire in Natalia on Sunday afternoon following an alleged hit-and-run incident involving a commercial vehicle.
At about 4:15 p.m. on October 11, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of 6th Street. Upon arrival, an officer observed a resident attempting to extinguish a small fire near the downed utility line using a household fire extinguisher. The officer directed the bystander to a safe distance due to electrical hazards, secured the immediate area, and blocked traffic to prevent vehicles from entering the street. Fire department personnel responded to the scene, closing off the opposite end of the street and setting up traffic cones to maintain a safe perimeter. A witness informed officers that a semi-truck struck the power line and fled the scene before emergency services arrived. No license plate or further description of the semi-truck was available. Firefighters remained on the scene to monitor the area while awaiting the arrival of the local power company to manage the downed line. No injuries were reported.
