Warhorse track Co-Champs with Tigers in 27-4A; 12 qualify for Area

Wowser! Devine and Floresville went toe-to-toe throughout the District 29-4A Meet in Somerset last week, and it was an exciting scoreboard to watch as the first legs of the 4x400m Relay got into the blocks with championship repercussions on the line.
Devine was trailing 162-180 when the gun sounded and needed a first place finish along with a no better than sixth place finish by the Tigers to pull out at least a share of the district title.
…and that is what exactly happened!
Devine used all of its “horse-power” to take gold with a final time of 3:25.97, more than 4½ seconds ahead of runner-up Pearsall.
More importantly Floresville slipped all the way to 6th place with a time of 3:35.99, more than 10 long seconds behind the Warhorses.
The Horses 20 points from the win and the Tigers 2 points from their 6th place showing evened the final tally to 182-182 and a share of the District 27-4A Championship.
