Zimmerle finishes 4th in State shot put

Jack Zimmerle too 4th place in shot put at State.

Devine Warhorse senior Jack Zimmerle threw a personal best 52’4 ¾” in Shot Put at the State Track Meet last Friday, May 12th at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin. Zimmerle’s personal best mark came on his second of 6 attempts.
Jack’s qualifying in a throwing event broke a long dry spell for Warhorses that competed at the state level in Shot Put. Jessie Garcia finished 4th in 1994 while Homer Hernandez in 1973 was the last to accomplish the feat before Jesse.
Shot Put Coach Devin Rotramel, “I was extremely proud of how Jack competed. To throw a personal best in the State Meet in the last event of his outstanding high school career says a lot about the kind of competitor he is.”
A great competitor, indeed. Jack battled nagging injuries throughout his senior season. A torn labrum in his shoulder, a hairline fracture and pulled ligaments in his hand will finally get a chance to heal now that he has competed in his last event as a Warhorse. He always represented each of the teams, its players, their coaches, his family, and himself in the best manner possible and to the best of his abilities.
“Competing in Shot Put at State was an awesome experience,” stated Zimmerle. “I know I would not have made it as far as I did without the time and support given to me by Coach Rotramel, Todd Summers, my mom, and especially my dad. I know without this ‘team’ behind me, I would not have accomplished the things I have, and for that I say ‘Thank You!’”
