Welton Robert Boehme

Welton Robert Boehme, of Rio Medina, passed away on July 12, 2017 in San Antonio at the age of 89 years. He was born May 2, 1928 in Castroville, the oldest of four children born to Robert F. Boehme and Dolphia Haby Boehme.
On June 23, 1951, he married JoAnna Saathoff at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. The young couple made their home next to his parents on the Boehme homestead. Welton followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, becoming a fourth-generation Medina County farmer and rancher. In his younger years, Welton played baseball with the Sturm Hill Indian Tigers. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Quihi Gun Club, Hermann Sons Lodge and Catholic Life. Welton enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, hunting deer and calf roping.
Welton was preceded in death by his parents, Robert F. and Dolphia Boehme; wife, JoAnna Boehme; son, Gaylon Mark Boehme; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jean Boehme; in-laws, George and Nora Saathoff, John Henry and Lilly Saathoff, Henry A. Saathoff, Jr., Lorene and Henry Schulte, Anna Marie and Al Cruz and Leora Jane King.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Gary and Kay Boehme of Rio Medina, Garland and Pam Boehme of Devine, Glendon and Linda Boehme of Rio Medina and Glenda Jo and Mickey Snider of Rio Medina; grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica and Matt Castiglione, Tyler Boehme, Klae and Nikki Boehme, Kiel and Sarah Boehme, Mitchel and Jennifer Boehme, Michael Boehme, Gavin Snider, Garik Snider, Grant Snider and Gracelyn Snider; great-grandchildren, Marin and Morgan Castiglione, Rebecca and Baylee Boehme, Brayden Boehme (“on the way”), Trae and Klae Boehme, Jr., Jerimiah Boehme and Maximillian Boehme; brothers, John Boehme and wife Marjean, and Clovis Boehme, all of Castroville; sister, Betty Balzen and husband Wayne of Pleasanton; sister-in-law, Jimmie Ruth Saathoff of Pipe Creek; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
There was Visitation on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, followed by the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm on Sunday at St. Louis Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection was Monday, July 17, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Louis Church. Interment followed at Quihi Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Welton’s memory to Sunshine Cottage or to the charity of your choice.
