Warhorses hold Crystal City to single hit in win over Crystal City

The Warhorse pitching staff held their opponents to a single hit for the second time in as many games on Friday, March 24. This time, Isaac Solis and Connor Schmidt combined to throw a one-hitter against Crystal City, and Corben Boggs and Dillon Ricord both homered to pace the offense in an 11-1 win.
Leadoff hitter Ricord kicked things off with a bang, smacking a solo home run over the left field fence for an immediate 1-0 lead. Newt Crouch walked, Jack Zimmerle reached safely after his grounder to third drew an error, and Richie Long walked to load the bases. Boggs stepped to the plate and hammered a grand slam to left field to clear the bases and give Devine all the momentum to go with a 5-0 lead.
Following Boggs’ dinger, Isaac Solis walked and scored on an error that allowed Schmidt to reach base. Dalton Kramer walked, and in his second at-bat of the inning, Ricord scorched a triple to left field to drive in Schmidt and Kramer for a commanding 8-0 lead.
Crystal City’s only run of the game came in the top of the 2nd inning, though it was courtesy of a dropped third strike, an error, and a wild pitch, not the Javelinas’ solitary hit.
Devine scored again in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Kyler Brown hit a ground ball that drew an error from the Javelina shortstop, and Ricord cranked his second home run of the game, this one to center field.
The Warhorses ended the game in the bottom of the 5th inning. Zimmerle was hit by a pitch and stole second to get into scoring position, and Long doubled to center to knock him in for the 11-1 win and improve to 10-4 on the season.
Devine had seven hits, seven walks, left seven runners on base, and committed three errors. Solis was the pitcher of record.
