Vicki Rosalind Baker Goode passed away in Devine Saturday, July 21, 2018, at the age of 73. A strong woman of faith, when her body gave out she maintained her great sense of humor, her sharp mind, and strong will. She peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior.
Vicki was born September 15, 1944 in Velasco, Texas to Peggy (Sewell) and Ross Baker Sr. She grew up in Angleton, Texas as the big sister to her three siblings. She was an active, intelligent, and outgoing child. After graduating high school, she married Berrimon Taylor and had two children, Kent and Monica. Later, she married Harvey Allen Goode and they had a son, Stacey. She moved around many years, raising her children and working for Texas Department of Corrections in Gatesville and Hondo, Travis County Sheriff, and other assorted jobs.
Several years after being widowed, she moved to Devine to be close to her daughter Monica. She spent the past 25 years helping care for and enjoying her grandchildren. They felt the love and support she gave them even in times where she couldn’t get around or leave home. In her grandchildren, Hunter and Taylor DuBose’s words “Mimi was and will always be here to give us her support whether it be in person or in spirit. We love and miss her dearly.”
She is survived by her children Kent Taylor, Monica Taylor, and Stacey Goode; sister Patricia Black; grandchildren Hunter DuBose, Taylor DuBose, Michael Goode, and Shawn Goode; step-children Kenneth Goode and Don Hemphill; brother-in-law Frank Jenkins; daughter in law Debbie Goode; son in law David Solomon; nephews Travis Jenkins (with wife Layne and their son Cooper), Kyle Jenkins (with wife Cindy), Austin Black and Tyler Black; step-grandchildren Lindsey Catty Currier, Matthew Currier and TJ Currier and family; sister in law Belinda Culp and many other nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Peggy Baker; her husband Harvey Allen Goode; her brother Ross Baker Jr. and sister Beth Jenkins.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Friday, July 27th, 2018 at The First United Methodist Church in Devine. The service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon in the church fellowship hall. The church is located at 212 W Benton Ave. in Devine, Texas.
