Varsity Arabians win first games of the season

Arabians defeated the Jourdanton Lady Squaws and the Pleasanton Lady Eagles on Aug. 8 for the first wins of the 2017 volleyball season leaving them 2-0. They won three out of four games against Pleasanton, 25-18, 16-25, 25-11, 25-17, and three games against Jourdanton, 25-17, 25-17, 25-11.
“We played much better in these games,” Coach Leigh Ann McIver said. “Our errors were less and we were more aggressive all around the court. It was a nice way to end the night.”
Arabians vs. Jourdanton
Offensively, the Arabians had a total of 37 kills for the Jourdanton game. Chesney Friesenhahn led with a total of 12, Addie Trojanowski next with 10, Megan Runyan had 7, Sierra Pompa had 6, and Dana Aaron and Alissa Stehle both had 1.
Sydney Rendon served the only ace of the game and Friesenhahn had a total of 3 blocks.
Defensively, the Arabians had a total of 50 digs and 33 assists for the Jourdanton game. Makenna Morales led with 18, Amanda Richardson (11), Trojanowski (8), Rendon (6), Runyan and Friesenhann each had 2, Pompa, Stehle, and Caimee Fowler each had1 dig.
Trojanowski had 20 assists in the game, and Rendon had 13 assists.
Trojanowski and Rendon were responsible for the 33 assists during the game. Trojanowski had 20 and Rendon had 13.
Arabians vs. Pleasanton
During the Pleasanton game, the Arabians had a total of 54 kills. Leading with a combined total of 44 out of those 54 were Pompa (15), Trojanowski (14), and Friesenhahn (13), followed by Runyan (3), Stehle (7), and Aaron (2).
Elizabeth Puente (1), Morales (1), and Friesenhahn (2) served a total of 4 aces during the game. Frisenhahn also had 3 blocks.
For the Pleasanton game the Arabians had a total of 101 digs, with Morales leading with 36, followed by Friesenhahn with 17, Trojanowski (12), Rendon (11), Richardson (10), Puente (4), Julie Ortiz (3), Runyan (3), Aaron (2), and Pompa (2)
Trojanowski had 32 assists, and Rendon had 12.
The Arabians have had a very successful start to the season. Their next game is on Aug. 15 in Uvalde and their Annual Varsity Arabian Round-Up is on Aug. 17-19.
