Coach Leigh Anne McIver and her team of talented athletes traveled down to Beeville last night to face the Orange Grove Lady Bulldogs. After 4 hard sets, the Arabians were victorious, 25-15, 18-25, 25-10, and 25-13.The Lady Bulldogs placed third in their district with an overall record of 21-17.
#1 Sierra Pompa ended sets 1 and 3 with kills. She had 23 total kills, 1 block and 16 digs. #2 Dana Aaron had 1 kill and 3 digs. #4 Alissa Stehle had 3 aces in 24 total serves, 8 kills, 5 assits,1 block, and 17 digs. #5 Sara Moreno had 1 aces, 12 receptions, and 6 digs. #6 Kaylee Howard7 receptions and 4 digs. #7 Gabby Rodriguez had 3 aces in 22 serves, 15 receptions, and 35 digs. #8 Macey Hein had 1 ace, 1 kill, 38 assists, and 7 digs. #10 Megan Runyan had 5 kills and 2 digs. #15 Madison Pike had 5 kills, 4 blocks, and 1 dig. #3 Myla Miles, # 11 Sydnie Harrell, #14 Clarissa Zamora, and #16 Jasmine Pompa cheered from the sidelines. Coach McIver was assisted by coaches Megan Perez and Kimberly Lane as well as managers Saily Sanchez, Bella Gutierrez, and Makayla Perez.
The next challenge for the Arabians is against La Vernia Tuesday November 6th at 6pm at the Blossom Athletic Center in San Antonio. It is located at 12002 Jones Maltsberger Rd.
Devine lost to La Vernia in the early part of September 0-3 but the Arabians have improved every aspect of their game since then. La Vernia won their district over Pleasanton, Poteet, Gonzalez, Navarro, Brooks Academy, and Cuero. Their overall record is 39-10. La Vernia beat Carrizo Springs 3-0 and Rockport Fulton 3-0 to get to the Regional Quarterfinals with Devine. The winner of this game will face the winner of Bellville and Needville November 9th.
