Team Tennis wins first match of season

Devine Team Tennis traveled to Hondo for their first pre-district matches winning with the score of 12-7. In team tennis, each team must have at least 7 boys and 7 girls. Each individual can play a doubles match and a singles match. Each match won gives their team a point. After the opponents have played 3 boys doubles, 3 girls doubles, 6 boys singles, 6 girls singles, and a mixed doubles match (boy and girl), the team that has 10 points wins. This makes for a very competitive and exciting team competition. Athletes have to be in good condition because their matches are played back to back and they are playing in very hot weather.
Our athletes competed very well, but we still have plenty of room for improvement. We are young this year after losing 6 talented seniors, so we are working hard to get our freshmen ready for high school competition.
