Street repairs underway soon

Repair and reconstruction of selected City streets will begin soon.

Devine City Council members chose streets in their districts to be repaired at a Special meeting held August 8.
The following streets were selected: District 1 -Transportation from Test Fleet to Food King; District 2 – S. Commercial Dr. from Hwy. 132 to Herring Ave.; District 3 – Dilley Ave. from N. Teel Dr. to Washington Dr.; District 4 – Jefferson Dr.; and District 5 – Mockingbird Ln. between Libold Dr. and Mt. Vernon Dr.
Repairs in Districts 1, 2, 3 and 5 are seal coat, while District 4’s Jefferson Dr. requires a complete reconstruction.
The edges of Ingram Rd. between W. Malone Ave. and Downing Dr., located in District 5, will also be repaired.
The cost for the repairs is $125,350. Only $80,000 was allotted for street repairs in the 2016-2017 Fiscal Year budget, meaning it will have to be amended before the new fiscal year goes into effect on October 1.
The City is currently seeking bids for the street repair and reconstruction (see the Public Notice section of the August 30 edition of The Devine News for more details) in hopes of finishing the work before the end of October.
