Roy Wayne Dempsey, age 63 of Castroville, beloved husband of 44-years, cherished father & Papa, son and brother, was called to Heaven on June 8, 2018 in San Antonio.
Roy was born on March 28, 1955 in Littlefield, Texas, one of three children of Roy Dee Dempsey and Rosa Lee Medlin Dempsey. In 1973, he graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock, Texas. Roy earned his Journeyman license in Midland, Texas and was a member of the local union, and began a career as a construction superintendent.
On February 8, 1974, Roy married Gina Ann Turner in Lubbock. Roy and Gina were blessed with 44 years of a loving marriage of 3 children and 8 grandchildren.
Roy’s construction career took him to numerous places to work on projects. After the completion of one of his projects in San Antonio 31 years ago, he decided to stay in the area and make a home for his family in Castroville. His final career was as a Project Manager for Titan Remodeling, his son-in-law’s company. Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling to Colorado, and spending his free time with his loving family. Papa was adored by his 8 grandchildren and will be deeply missed.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife, Gina Dempsey of Castroville; children, Aleacia Battros and her husband Eddie of San Antonio, Amanda Leake and her husband Preston of Franklin, Tennessee, and Justin Dempsey of Castroville; grandchildren, Makayla, Madilyn, Macey, and Preston Leake; Katelyn, Tyler, Abigail, and Hannah Battros; sister and brother-in-law Belinda and Joe Johnson of Katy, Texas; brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Anne Dempsey of Pflugerville, Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Castroville. Interment will be held at Millheim Cemetery in Sealy, Texas on Monday, June 18 at 11 am.
Memorials may be made in Roy’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Heart Association.
