Rev. Harris DeWitt Shinn, age 99, of San Antonio, passed away early in the morning on June 1, 2017 in San Antonio after a life well lived. Rev. Shinn was born October 9, 1917 in Dewey, Oklahoma. He was the last surviving of three sons born to Earnest and Bessie White Shinn. He married Eugenia Decker on March 23, 1939. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage, three children and five grandchildren. Eugenia preceded him in death on October 15, 2007. For several years, Rev. Shinn was pastor at First Baptist Church of Castroville as well as many other churches in South Texas, including Natalia and Devine. He had many fond memories of his time spent in Castroville.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, E. Wendell and Lennell Shinn; daughter, Anne Shinn; daughter and son-in-law, Donna K. and Ken Sharber; grandchildren, Analisa Shinn-Martinez (Cliff), Olivia Sharber, Ben Sharber, David Sharber, Diana Sharber; and former wife, Doris Cameron.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Meadows Retirement Community, 730 Babcock Rd, San Antonio, TX 78201. A private family interment was held in the Castroville Community Cemetery.
