The Natalia High School Varsity cheerleaders brought the spirit to Universal Cheerleaders Association camp held at Texas State University in July. The squad of nine girls competed against 17 other squads from around the area.
During their time at camp they were able to master several new cheers, dances, and stunts. The squad worked together as a team and brought home several awards to recognize their hard work and dedication. In addition to winning the sought-after Spirit Stick every night, NHS wrapped up the camp by earning two superior and one outstanding ribbons during performance evaluations. They earned the 2nd place trophy for overall best in Cheer.
Senior Trinity Vera competed and was selected as UCA All-American cheerleader to cheer in London. UCA also has a program called Pin It Forward where cheerleaders are chosen by staff members and other cheerleaders at the camp for the leadership skills. Senior Felicia Guzman was selected for this honor.
This year’s team consists of seniors Grace Gorman, Felicia Guzman, Julianna (Juju) Morales, Trinity Vera, Monique Wolff, Tori Wootan; junior Destiny Zapata; and sophomores Bryanna Perez and Gabi Santoya. The squad is under the direction of Mrs. Debie Cone.
