Stiff competition filled Rutledge Stadium last weekend for the Class 3A Region IV Track and Field Meet. Natalia saw their track and field season come to a conclusion, as Uriel Arellano (Discus), Ray Rizo (100 M. Dash) and Dustin Richardson (High Jump) competed hard, but were unable to advance on to the state meet.
“I am proud of these boys and their accomplishments,” Coach Martin Alvarez said.
Arellano and Rizo failed to make the finals in their respective events. Richardson on the other hand was able to and finished in 6th place clearing 6’2”.
“Ray and Dustin will be missed next season (Seniors),” Alvarez said. “The future does look bright for Uriel throwing 139 feet at Area and Qualifying for Regional as a sophomore.”
