Natalia cross country teams Regional-bound

Members of the Mustang cross country team include Isaac Rios, Jared Stallworth, Coltin Richardson, Joel Rios, Noah Gilkey, Matt Contreras, and Joel Mendez.

The Natalia Mustang and Lady Mustang Cross Country teams are regional bound, after finishing in the top three at the District 30-3A Meet last Monday, October 8th in Lytle. The Region IV Meet will be held this coming Monday, October 22nd at Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
“This group of kids are very special, because they are hard workers, coachable and mentally tough,” Natalia Head Coach Samantha Crowley said. “I am excited that they get to be rewarded for all of their hard work.”
Varsity Mustangs– The Varsity Stangs were able to finish in 2nd place behind district champion Lytle, but ahead of 3rd seed Dilley, Cotulla, Jourdanton and Laredo Harmony when it came to team finishes.
The Mustangs were led last week in Lytle by Isaac Rios, who finished in 9th place with a time of 19:36. Other finishes: Jared Stallworth-12th 20:05, Coltin Richardson-13th 20:41, Joel Rios-15th 20:53, Noah Gilkey-18th 21:55, Matt Contreras-20th 22:58 and Joel Mendez-23rd 23:39.

Members of the Lady Mustang cross country team include Julia Owens, Tatyana Alvarado, Sam Sanchez, Sam Stallworth, Gabby Contreras, and Ashley Sutton.

Varsity Lady Mustangs– The Varsity Lady Mustangs were able to snag 3rd place behind district champion Lytle and 2nd seed Dilley. The girls in blue did manage to finish ahead of Jourdanton, Cotulla and Laredo Harmony Academy.
Natalia was led by senior Julia Owens, who finished strong in 8th place with a time of 15:10. Freshman Tatyana Alvarado had a great district debut, as she finished in 10th place with a time of 15:15. Other finishes: Sam Sanchez-16th 15:53, Sam Stallworth-17th 15:55, Gabby Contreras-21st 16:35 and Ashley Sutton-26th 17:58.
Regional Meet Set
This coming Monday Natalia is headed to the Coastal Bend to Texas A&M Corpus Christi to compete on the Islander Regional Course. The Lady Mustangs will run at 11:10 a.m. with the Mustangs to follow at 11:30 a.m.
NJH Runners
A number of Natalia JH Runners also competed in the district meet which was held in Lytle. Tyli Ventimiglia led the 7th grade Lady Mustangs as she finished in 11th place with a time of 17:40. Other 7th grade finishes: Trina Vera-17th 18:14, Addison Crowther-18th 18:17 and Daniela Padilla-20th 19:05.
One 7th Grade Mustang competed, as Anthony Zapata finished in 14th place with a time of 16:40.
In the 8th Grade boys division, Gianni Rios led the way as he had a strong finish coming in 3rd place with a time of 13:36. Daniel Tristan finished in 11th place with a time of 14:55.
