Medina Healthcare System earns 5-star rating from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services

Medina Healthcare System has earned a 5-star rating in the most recently released data that will soon post on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Hospital Compare website. The HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) star ratings provide a snapshot of various patient experience and quality measures across the United States.
This 5-star rating reflects the inpatient experience at Medina Regional Hospital and ranks in the top 5% of hospitals in the United States. Through a survey conducted by a third party vendor, discharged patients are asked a series of questions related to their hospital stay. Questions focus on key elements of a patient’s stay such as how well nurses and doctors communicate, staff responsiveness, pain management, hospital cleanliness, and the overall hospital rating. With 264 hospitals in Texas, only 24 received a 5-star rating in this category, a testament to the high quality and personalized care provided at Medina Regional Hospital.
“We value our patients and do everything we can to make their hospital stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible,” said CEO Janice Simons. “While no one wants to be sick or be hospitalized, patients are treated with compassion, quality, and safety in mind. We understand that our patients have a choice where they receive healthcare, so we want to provide the experience they deserve.
