Mary Margaret Edmondson Jones, of San Antonio, passed away on August 27, 2018 in Castroville at the age of 78 years. She was born December 20, 1939 in Comanche, Texas to parents Frederick Preston Edmondson and Bonnie Lenore Irwin Edmondson.
Mary was a graduate of Comanche High School in Comanche, TX. She continued her education at Howard Payne University where she received a B.S. and Masters in Education. She started her teaching career in 1963.Over the course of her career, she worked in the following school districts in Texas: Ft. Hancock, Rockport, Brookesmith, Brownwood and Edgewood. She retired as a school administrator from the Edgewood I.S.D. in San Antonio.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Bonnie Edmondson; and her husband, Bobby Gene Jones; brother, George Edmondson and sister, Elaine Kerley.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Keith and Cheryl Ann Jones; granddaughters, Katie Selph and Meredith Jones; great-grandson, Nash Hunter.
The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home will open for gathering at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 8, 2018, followed by a Memorial Service to Celebrate Mary’s life at 2:00 pm. Private Interment will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Mary’s memory to the Medina Valley Education Foundation, Mary M. Jones Teacher Scholarship Fund or the charity of your choice.
