Marvin Daniel Kolar

Marvin Daniel Kolar, age 76, passed away on November 6, 2018 at his home in San Antonio. He was born March 21, 1942 in Abbott, Texas, one of five children of Robert John Kolar and Elsie Sumbera Kolar.
Marvin served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Navy in 1967, he was employed at Parkland Hospital in Dallas and Central Energy in San Antonio. He retired as a civil service employee at Kelly Air Force Base-San Antonio and Lackland Air Force Base-San Antonio, retiring as a power pro engineer with over twenty years on the job.
Marvin was a member of Geronimo Village/Emergency Services District 2 Fire Department and the American Legion Post 300.
On February 10, 1968, Marvin married Mary Evans in Irving, Texas. Their marriage was blessed with three children, two grandchildren and one grandchild expected to arrive soon.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elsie Kolar; brother, Alphonse J. Kolar and sisters, Helen Klanika and Evelyn Seith.
Survivors include his wife of over fifty years, Mary Kolar; children, John Kolar, Shayla Williams and Kristen Kolar Baker Prado and her husband, Josh; grandchildren, Ezra Mathias Baker and Mary Margaret Isabella “Maggie” Prado; sister, Irene Bailey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was Sunday, November 11, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Mass of the Resurrection was Monday, November 12 at 11:00 am at Saint Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church, 6150 Roft Road, San Antonio, Texas 78253. Committal Service and Interment with Military Honors provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and Honors provided by the Geronimo Village/Emergency Services District 2 Fire Department, was Tuesday, November 13 at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi Marian, 11624 Culebra Road, San Antonio, Texas 78253.
Memorials may be made in Marvin’s memory to Boys State and Girls State Funds at American Legion Post 300, or the charity of your choice.
