Martha Louise Tschirhart Hutzler

Martha Louise Tschirhart Hutzler passed away on August 28, 2018 at her home in La Coste at the age of 86 years. She was born January 11, 1932 in Bexar County, the youngest of 11 children of Alfred Tschirhart and Paulina Mechler Tschirhart.
On April 15, 1950, Martha married Wilfred Joseph Hutzler, Jr. at St. Louis Catholic Church. In 1961, years after her children were born, Martha received her high school diploma from a correspondence school, the American School of Chicago. Martha took care of her family and home and began working at Security Service Federal Credit Union. She started in the mailroom there and worked her way up in the company, becoming a teller, a loan processor, loan officer and finally retiring as senior loan officer. In the 1970’s, she and her husband were both active EMT’s in the Medina Valley EMS program. At that time, it was an unpaid volunteer position.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Wilfred Hutzler, Jr.; brothers, Alton, Hugo, Harold, Lee Allen and Arthur Tschirhart; sisters, Laura Muennink and Ella Tondre and two infant siblings, Max and Julia Tschirhart.
Survivors include her daughters, Marva (Charles) Lester of La Grange, Lana Olsen of San Antonio; son, Emery Hutzler of La Coste; grandchildren, Christopher (Heather) Neuman, Thomas (Melissa) Neuman, Shelley Neuman, Lauren Olsen and Joe Lester; great-grandchildren, Crimson Neuman, Sophie Neuman, Sawyer Neuman and Sadie Neuman; sister, Erna Schneider of Rio Medina; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 12, 2018 starting at 5:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 pm. Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Martha will be laid to rest with her husband at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Martha’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
