Man attacks 12-year-old walking to school

A 12-year-old boy was the victim of a vicious attack this past Monday morning between 8:30 and 9:00 am, and police are asking the community for help in identifying this dangerous suspect. The young boy was walking to school when a stranger grabbed hold of him.
Thankfully the boy was able to fight off the attacker, an unknown adult male. The suspect eventually fled the scene in what was described as a two-tone dark blue or black colored truck, with white across the bottom and a slight lift.
“The attacker grabbed the boy from behind and shoved him up against the truck,” said Natalia Police Chief Gilbert Rodriguez. “He hit the hood of the truck, and then the boy fell to the ground. Then apparently, the attacker stepped on him. Of course, the child was fighting back, yelling and screaming, and I guess he raised enough commotion that he was able to scare the attacker off. He did sustain minor injuries.”
The victim remembered walking past the truck shortly before he was attacked. The incident occurred in a residential area on 5th Street in Natalia, between Pearson and Miller Street. The boy was only a few blocks from the boy’s home, and about 3 blocks from school.
Local schools have sent out an email warning parents and students to be extra careful, and urge you to be on the lookout for the truck and anything suspicious.
“Our victim had no idea who this person was,” Rodriguez said. “He has never seen him before.”
