Lytle Police Report July 1-8


July 2
7:49 AM – Officer responded to IH 35 N at Mile Marker 132 for a report of a reckless driver. Officer was unable to locate vehicle.
8:20 AM – Traffic stop at N. Prairie St and Adams St. resulted in the arrest of a 19-year-old male subject for Possession of Marijuana < 2 oz. when the officer discovered the suspect had thrown a baggie of marijuana out of his car window when rolling to a stop. Subject was transported to Atascosa Co. Jail.
8:30 AM – Officer responded to John Lott Park to unlock a vehicle.
8:30 AM – Complainant stopped by the Police Station and turned in found property. The property was later released to the owner.
11:00 AM – Officer responded to US Renal Care for a report of a damaged mailbox. An unknown driver of a truck and gooseneck trailer was captured on video running over the mailbox with the rear of the trailer while turning around.
11:00 AM – Officers responded to HEB Plus for a report of an older female that is possibly testing the security measures at the HEB Plus. Complainant recovered a basket with $1,200 of merchandise. This is also taking place at other HEB locations.
11:23 AM – Officer located a subject burning trash at 14600 Blk. of FM 2790 E. Subject was advised it was illegal to burn trash within the city limits. The fire was extinguished.
11:55 AM – Officer responded to IH 35 at Mile Marker 131 SB to assist a stranded motorist.
2:27 PM – Officer responded to Valero Corner Store for a report of a juvenile asking people for money outside the store and complainant wished for him to leave. Officer arrived and identified the juvenile who was rapidly walking away from the store. Officer advised him that the manager did not want him there and he agreed to not come back.
4:30 PM – Officers responded to FM 3175 at IH 35 to assist Atascosa Co. SO with a traffic stop of a vehicle after a reported drive-by shooting. Investigation revealed the vehicle backfired and no shots were fired.
6:20 PM – Officer responded to IH 35 at Mile Marker 134 SB to assist a stranded motorist. Officer located the vehicle but no one was around it. The vehicle was off the roadway.
6:51 PM – Complainant talked to officer in reference to a civil matter – child custody.
9:22 PM – Complainant talked to officer in reference to a civil matter – child custody.
9:55 PM – Officer responded to HEB C-Store for a report of a vehicle parked blocking an area the staff needed to access. Officer attempted to locate contact info for registered owner but was unable to locate. Officer advised HEB to follow their store policy.
11:20 PM – Officer responded to 18700 Blk. of N. Prairie St. for a report of an injured owl. Officer advised Animal Control Officer.
July 3
3:00 AM – Officer made contact with a suspicious vehicle pulling out of Schwan’s. The driver stated she dropped of her friend at the Best Western Plus and was on her phone.
4:15 AM – Officer responded to Cabinet Creations for a report of an alarm. Officer found the building to be secure.
8:33 AM – Officer responded to IH 35 S Frontage Rd. at FM 2790 E for a report of a white truck blocking the intersection. Officer located the truck and directed traffic while the owner added fuel to his tank.
1:27 PM – Officer responded to Hwy. 132 near CR 6850 to assist Texas DPS with a traffic stop.
2:30 PM – Officer responded to 14800 Blk. of Lytle-Somerset St. for a report of an outside shed that had been broken into. Officer spoke with the owner who stated there was no damage to the shed and that nothing had been stolen. Complainant wanted to make the PD aware of possible criminal activity in the area. The shed had previously been broken into.
2:49 PM – Officer responded to CVS Pharmacy for a report of a 911 call from the store. It was discovered than an employee had dialed an extra 1 when dialing an outside line, causing a 911 call.
5:05 PM – Officer responded to 19200 Blk. of Blume Dr. for a report of salesman going door to door without a permit. Officer informed the subject about the ordinance. Subject was given a verbal warning.
9:10 PM Capt. Reyes – Reckless Driver Officer responded to IH 35 S for a report of a vehicle driving recklessly. Officer was unable to locate vehicle.
July 4
12:19 AM – Officer was advised that a train was disconnected from half of its load. The train blocked off all RR Crossings through Lytle.
2:00 PM – Officer responded to Lytle Cemetery for a report of a water leak. Officer contacted Lytle Public Works.
2:55 AM – Officer responded to 14900 Blk. of Lytle-Somerset St. for a report of a suspicious shadow on the front window of the house. Officer advised complainant that he was patrolling the area and the shadow that she might have seen was probably his shadow.
2:40 PM – Officer responded to HEB Plus for a report of a suspicious man walking around the store carrying two long knives on belt scabbards. Officer spoke with subject who stated he was not breaking the law and was waiting for his mother to finish shopping. Officer spoke with the store manager who did not desire any further action taken.
3:43 PM – Officer responded to 1900 Blk. of FM 2790 E to assist Lytle Vol. Fire Dept. with a grass fire.
5:30 PM – Officer observed a vehicle run into a ditch on the IH 35 S Frontage Rd. at the on ramp to IH 35 S. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old male subject for Driving While Intoxicated First Offense. Subject was transported to Atascosa Co. Jail.
6:45 PM – Officer responded to Bruce St. for a report of fireworks being discharged. Verbal warning was issued to residents on Officer St. and Harbour St.
9:25 PM – Officer responded to Office St. for a report of fireworks being discharged. Verbal warning was issued to residents on Officer St. and Harbour St.
10:05 PM – Officer responded to Dawson St. for a report of fireworks being discharged. The home owner agreed not to discharge anymore fireworks.
10:05 PM – Field contact at Best Western Plus resulted in the arrest of a 21-year-old male subject for Violation of a Protective Order. Subject was transported to Atascosa Co. Jail.
July 5
8:20 AM – Officer responded to 15200 Blk. of Main St. for a report of a woman yelling. Officer searched the area, unable to locate.
9:13 AM – Officer responded to Valero Corner Store to unlock a vehicle.
9:25 AM – Officer responded to St. Andrew’s Church to assist Lytle Vol. Fire Dept. with a damaged powerline/pole. CPS was dispatched to scene. Officer stood by and provided traffic control.
10:25 AM – Complainant stopped by the Police Station to report that while she was jogging at the John Lott Park she noticed a man staring at her from across the railroad tracks and it made her feel uncomfortable. Officer advised to call the PD when it happens again.
11:22 AM – Officer responded to Cottage St. for a report of a suspicious male walking in the area. Officer checked the area, unable to locate.
11:32 AM – Officer responded to Adams St. at D’Hanis St. to assist Animal Control Officer with 2 dogs running at large.
12:45 PM – Officer responded to McDonald’s to assist a stranded female. Officer provided a courtesy ride to IH 35 at Loop 1604.
1:50 PM – Officer responded to Oak St. at S. Prairie St. for a report running with an open driver’s door and unoccupied. The vehicle belongs to residence at which it was parked. Officer turned the vehicle off and attempted to contact resident but there was no answer to officer’s knocks.
3:11 PM – Officer responded to 15300 Blk. of Main St. for a report of a 911 hang-up call. Officer was unable to locate.
3:11 PM – Officer responded to Main St. at McDonald St. for a report of a two vehicle crash.
3:22 PM – Officer responded to FM 3175 at IH 35 Access Rd. for a report of a two vehicle crash.
4:32 PM – Officer responded to Tots to Teens for a report of an alarm.
5:50 PM – Complainant talked to officer in reference to taking a homeless person to her residence to allow him to shower and clean up. Officer counseled the complainant on taking strangers to her residence.
7:30 PM – Officer responded to Lytle Apartments to unlock a vehicle.
July 6
2:59 AM – Field contact was made with a vehicle that circled around two police vehicles multiple times at the Beall’s P-Lot. The driver was identified and released.
4:05 AM – Officer responded to Lytle Dental for a report of an alarm. Officer found building to be secure.
8:33 AM – Officers responded to Main St. near Valero for a report of a reckless driver coming into the city on Wisdom Rd. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic violation stop. Officer released the vehicle and the driver to his father.
12:18 PM – Officer responded to Exxon and took custody of $30 in counterfeit money.
2:20 PM – Officer responded to John’s Small Engine Works for a report of a civil matter.
3:00 PM Capt. Reyes – Verbal Disagreement Officer responded to HEB Plus (19300 Blk. of McDonald St.) for a report of 2 customers who got into a verbal disagreement. According to complainant, the male suspect was verbally abusive towards her. The male departed prior to officer’s arrival.
3:20 PM – Officer responded to IH 35 Exit 131 S at McDonald St. for a report of a reckless driver. Officer was unable to locate.
3:30 PM – Complainant stopped by the Police Station and reported a possible stolen vehicle. Officer requested that the registered owner contact the Police Department.
4:15 PM – Officer responded to City Hall for a report of found property turned in.
July 7
1:48 AM – Traffic stop at N. Prairie St. and FM 2790 N resulted in the arrest of a 58-year-old female subject for Driving While Intoxicated – First Offense. Subject was transported to Atascosa Co. Jail.
4:38 AM – Officer responded to Brown’s Tackle & Gun for a report of an alarm. Officer found the building to be secure.
10:45 AM – Officer responded to St. Andrew’s Church and provided funeral escort.
10:55 AM – Officer responded to N. Prairie St. at Railroad Crossing for a report of a vehicle hitting the train. Officer arrived and found to signs of an impact, the train continued northbound.
12:53 PM – Officer responded to Main St. at McDonald St. for a report of a reckless driver. Officer was unable to locate.
2:00 PM – Officer responded to John Lott Park for a report of a large Oak tree down. Lytle PD contacted Lytle Parks Worker and he advised of the removal of the tree during the week.
4:25 PM – Officer responded to MC Self Storage and observed a door that appeared to be forcibly opened. Officer arrived and found the unit empty. Officer contacted the emergency contact number and left a message. Officer was later advised they were aware of the damage but no report was filed.
5:34 PM – Officer responded to John Lott Park for a report of a civil matter – child custody.
7:45 PM – Officers responded to Whataburger for a report of a welfare check on a male subject. The subject was having a mental health crisis. The subject’s mother was contacted and picked him up.
9:15 PM – Complainant called the Police Station to talk to an officer. Caller wanted the PD to be aware that she had a sick infant and was headed home with the child on her lap. The caller did not want a citation.
9:26 PM – Traffic stop at Main St. and Davis St. resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old subject for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Conviction. Subject was transported to Atascosa Co. Jail.
11:08 PM – Officer responded to HEB C-Store for a report of 6 BBQ grills stolen from the storage. A chain was cut to gain access, total estimated loss $714.
July 8
8:35 AM – Officer responded to Bill Miller BBQ to unlock a vehicle.
10:30 AM – Officer responded to Pumphouse Carwash for a report graffiti on a flagpole and 2 garbage cans.
3:30 PM – Officer responded to Newton St. for a report of a vehicle blocking the roadway. Officer arrived and the vehicle was removed by the owner.
