Leatrice, more affectionately known by family and friends as “Tootie”, was born and raised in Castroville. “Tootie” graduated from St. Louis High School in 1950.One thing you could always count on when you had a conversation with “Tootie” was her positive attitude. It didn’t matter how bad the daily news was or how terrible your day was going, “Tootie” would find a silver lining in whatever the situation. After Diane’s death in 1975 and Maurice’s death in 2005, “Tootie” continued to do what needed to be done to help her family get through some difficult times, including the deaths of her other daughter Valerie and granddaughter, Ashley. Her faith did not waiver, in spite of these tragedies. She continued to pray to God for strength to help her through these trying times. “Tootie” loved watching all sports, especially football. She also loved the outdoors. Mother Angelica was also one of her favorites, often telling others of the recent stories she heard Mother speak about while watching her on TV. “Tootie” demonstrated a passion for caring and giving to others and now she is with her Lord who no doubt is saying to her, “well done, good and faithful servant.”
