The Lady Mustangs hosted the Fox Tech Lady Buffaloes on Friday, September 8th. After many hard fought games the Lady Mustangs succumbed to the Buffaloes.
In game one Natalia lost to Fox Tech 22-25; in game two and three Natalia won 25-19 and 25-20; however in games four and five Natalia lost 23-25 and 12-15.
Offensively Tori Wootan led the Lady Mustangs with 3 aces, followed by Shaunna Masters with 2 and Grace Gorman and Biviana Figueroa with 1 each. In kills Wootan led with 15; also scoring kills were Masters with 5, Morales and Felicia Guzman each with 2 and Gorman, and Figueroa each with 1.
Defensively Natalia had 6 blocks made by Gorman and Masters with 2 each and Guzman and Figueroa with 1 each. Angelina Zapata led with 10 digs, while others contributing were Wootan with 5, Gorman and Masters with 3 each, Bryanna Perez with 2 and Guzman with 1.
“The girls fell short on the season opener, but we are working hard for our next opponent,” state Coach Samantha Crowley.
The Natalia JV were able to beat Fox Tech in two close games 25-21 and 25-23.
They face the Jourdanton Squaws in Natalia on Friday, September 15th. The JV games starts at 5 pm with the Varsity game following at 6 pm.
