Lady Mustangs drop non-district battles vs. Marion and Pleasanton

Katelyn Corona goes up for a spike.

The Natalia Lady Mustangs (8-17) continued to battle through their challenging and competitive non-district schedule. Last week during action, Natalia battled hard, but dropped a non-district road game in Guadalupe County vs Marion before falling at home last Friday to a really good Pleasanton (25-7) ball club.
During the trip to Marion, Natalia allowed the Lady Bulldogs to jump out to a two set lead as the girls in green and white won 25-18, 25-19. Natalia turned the tables in set three with a 25-19 victory, before watching the home squad dominate in the fourth set 25-15.
“We put up a fight and were able to steal a set, but the Lady Bulldogs were able to pull away,” Coach Tamara Bednorz said.
Friday evening Pleasanton soared into town and continued their impressive season. Kaycie Shannon led the offensive showcase for the Lady Eagles as girls like Chloe Bryant and Madison McDonald chipped in to lead charge.
Natalia had no answer for the Lady Eagles, as they fell 6-25, 7-25, 9-25. “We were forced to dig hard hit balls throughout the night,” Bednorz said. “Although Pleasanton won, we continue to improve and push forward toward district.”
