JV Warhorses beat Carrizo Springs 15-2

The JV Warhorses took an early lead and followed that up with an 11-run inning to coast to an easy 15-2 win over Carrizo Springs last Tuesday, March 21.
Leadoff batter Joey Seguin started the game with a single to second, advancing to second on Chad Lawson’s sacrifice bunt. Brady Cardenas, Luke Ricord, Truett Barron, and Gehrig Runyan hit consecutive singles to plate three runs, Jordan Degollado was hit by a pitch, and Brady Harrell hit a sacrifice fly to give the JV Warhorses a quick 4-0 lead.
Devine was ahead 4-1 in the top of the 4th inning when they batted around and scored 11 runs to put the game away. Tristin Cruz walked, Seguin was hit by a pitch, and each stole a base to get into scoring position for Lawson, who promptly singled to drive both in. Cardenas followed with a double, and back-to-back singles from Ricord and Barron knocked in Lawson and Cardenas for an 8-1 lead.
Runyan was hit by a pitch, Ricord scored on a passed ball, and Joseph Guajardo walked to load the bases. Degollado was forced out at home on Harrell’s single, Runyan scored on a passed ball, and Cruz in his second at-bat of the inning, Cruz tripled to left to drive in Harrell to give the JV Warhorses a 12-1 advantage.
Lawson’s two-out double to center drove in Cruz, and Lawson scored on Cardenas’s single. Ricord reached on an error, and Barron singled to knock in Cardenas to put Devine up 15-1 en route to their eventual 15-2 win.
The JV Warhorses improved to 7-5 overall.
Devine bashed 15 hits to just three by Carrizo Springs. The JV Warhorses also drew two walks, left six runners on base, and committed three errors.

The JV Warhorses head to Pearsall on Friday, March 31, before hosting Bandera on Tuesday, April 4. They hit the road again to take on Lytle on Friday, April 7. All games are scheduled for 4:30 pm.
