John “Johnny” Anthony Solis, of Castroville, passed away on March 12, 2018 in San Antonio at the age of 75 years. Johnnie was born November 9, 1942 in Castroville, the youngest of seven children of Jesus and Maria Hernandez Solis. He grew up in Castroville and was a lifelong member of St. Louis Catholic Church. Johnnie was a retired Medina County Road Department heavy equipment operator.
On December 16, 1967, he married Gloria Galindo. They were blessed with fifty years of marriage and three daughters.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Maria Solis; brothers, Jessie Solis, Joe Solis, David Solis and Rudy Solis Sr. and sister, Lucia Reyna.
Survivors include his loving wife, Gloria Solis of Castroville; daughters, Jennifer Solis, Rachel Solis and Julie Solis, all of Castroville; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Steven Gallegos of Castroville; his beloved puppy, Wyatt; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was Monday, March 19, 2018, from 5 to 8 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 7 pm. Mass of the Resurrection was Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 10 am at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment followed at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.
