John Edward Law

John Edward Law left this world for his heavenly home Nov. 3, 2018.
John was born Dec. 28, 1945. He attended San Antonio College and University of Texas in Austin. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was on active duty in Vietnam as an operating room assistant.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church (Devine) and St. John the Evangelist Church (Hondo). John served his church, in Devine, as a lay minister and, along with his wife, Judy, began the RCIA Program at St. Joseph’s under the direction of Father Clement DeMeersman. Many were brought to the faith through John’s efforts.
John also served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Devine Lions Club. John was a very devout Christian who lived a life of service to his Lord. He was kind and easy-going, and never had a harsh word to say to anyone. He was quiet and gentle and loved his family and friends deeply. He was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Joey Cole Carroll; and sister, Marilyn Hildebrand.
John is survived by his wife Angela Rose ‘Judy’ Law, stepchildren, Harvey E. Holcomb Jr., Cindy Holcomb Carroll and Eric C. Holcomb; grandchildren, Beau (Traci) Carroll, Whitney Carroll (Jayson) Williams, Dawn Holcomb (Josh) Walker, Cheyenne Holcomb and Erica Holcomb (Welden) Rappmund, D.V.M.; great-grandchildren, Paige, Presley and Ian Walker, McKenna Williams, Heston Holcomb Dowlearn, Kolton Schroat, and Tenley and Kynzli Carroll; and nephews, Burton (Diana) Chase and their children, Caleb and Charis; Michael (Ada) Chase and their children, Erin and Catherine, and David (Jennifer) Hildebrandt and their children Evan and Dylan.
There will be a rosary and mass in his honor in Devine at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Monday, November 19, 2018. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm and a mass at 7:00 pm.
