Jerry Wayne Conover

Jerry Wayne Conover was born in Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, Texas on September 19, 1950 to Ben Frank & Hallie Marie Dennis Conover.
In 1962, Jerry was baptized at Eastview Baptist Church in Kilgore, Texas where the family resided at the time.
As a result of his father’s profession in the oilfield, he attended about 10 different schools and graduated from Alvin High School in 1968. He attended Uvalde Jr. College for one year before entering the workforce.
He married Mary Katherine Sedbrook in 1972 in Del Rio, Texas and they had four boys: Ben Justin, Jason Wayne, Jerry Joe, and James Cody.
He moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1979 and started Jerry’s Rentals & Specialties and resided there the rest of his life.
In 1998 he remarried to Mirna Yolanda Alvarado and they had two children, Dora Katherine and John Wayne.
As a young boy and teenager, Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and rodeoing. He participated in Tie-down Calf Roping, Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, and Bull Riding. Jerry continued to enjoy fishing and hunting his whole life.
After he started a family, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at the ranch hunting.
Jerry was predeceased by his father, mother, and two nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Mirna, sons Justin (Dustin), Jason (Brandi), J.J., Cody (Jackie), John Wayne; daughter, Katherine. Grandchildren: Skyla, Cal, Aiden, Katie, and Logan. Brother: Ted, Sisters: Jeanice (Mike) and Kim (James). Numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel 303 W. College Ave. Devine, Texas.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11:00 am at Moore Memorial Cemetery in Moore, Texas, with interment to follow.
Jerry Wayne was one of a kind, lived his life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, father, brother and a good friend to many, too numerous to name. Jerry passed unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in Edinburg, Texas.
