Eva Jane Weisinger

Eva Jane Weisinger of Devine was born June 20, 1919 to Ozment Milton Jenkins, Sr. and Mary Lou White Jenkins in Palestine, TX. She passed away on December 31, 2017 at age 98.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Thomas E. Weisinger Jr., her father, her mother, and brothers, O.M. Jenkins, Jr. and Jim Henry Taylor.
Eva worked for Devine ISD for 20 years from 1957 until 1977 as the first and only superintendents’ secretary for approximately 18 years serving under 4 superintendents.
As she spent a lot of her time working to do her best job and taking care of her family, she didn’t have a lot of spare time but when she did, she enjoyed going to San Antonio shopping, going on family vacations, and just being with her family. In her later life, she learned to play golf with her husband, Tom.
She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she loved her Church and her Church family at the First United Methodist Church and she served as Sunday School Secretary and Communion Steward for about 20 years.
She is survived by her son, Thomas E. (Tommy) Weisinger III of Devine; daughter, Donna Faye Eshleman and husband Michael Eshleman of Devine; grandchildren, Larry Eshleman and his wife Ogechi of Pearland and John Eshleman and his wife Christa of Cypress; great-grandchildren, Liam Eshleman of Cypress, David Eshleman of Pearland, Marra Jane Eshleman of Cypress, and Christopher Eshleman of Pearland.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home of Devine, Texas. Funeral Service was held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church of Devine, Texas with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery.
