Elmer Howard Haby

Elmer Howard Haby, of Devine, passed away on August 29, 2018 in San Antonio at the age of 64 years. He was born July 7, 1954 in Hondo, Texas, the youngest of three children born to Howard Harold Haby and Margaret Mary Biediger Haby.
Elmer was a graduate of Medina Valley High School, graduating in 1972. He continued his education at Southwest Texas State University, earning a degree in Psychology in 1976. For his first job, Elmer worked as a counselor at Brown School in San Marcos. He returned to Medina County and worked as a production supervisor for Tex-Spice Mental Health Services in Devine. He then worked for a similar sheltered workshop in Poteet before he retired.
Elmer was preceded in death by his father, Howard Haby, and his step-father, Richard Schott.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret M. Haby Schott of Castroville; sister, Linda Soane of San Antonio; brother, Louis Haby of Dunlay; nieces, Lisa Soane and Laurie Soane Strawn (Chris); nephew, Joseph Soane, III (Diane); and great-nephew, Jack Strawn.
Visitation was Monday, September 3, 2018, starting at 5:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 6:00 pm. Mass of the Resurrection was Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Louis Catholic Church. Entombment followed at St. Louis Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Memorials may be made in Elmer’s memory to St. Louis Catholic School or the charity of your choice.
