DWI arrest

Here is the low down on Lytle Police activity this past week. As usual our activity wasn’t too exciting. Nothing that would entice Hollywood to come calling with their cameras or to have CNN set up a satellite truck. Officers generated 39 service calls and conducted 71 traffic stops. Citations were issued on 59 of the stops and the remaining 12 were given warnings.
We had three property crimes reported and they all were from Sunday. Two vehicles were burglarized at the TXDOT Park N Ride on the access road of IH-35. They most likely occurred late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. The driver side window of each vehicle was broken out. One owner reported their $400 stereo was taken and the other reported the only missing item as the front grill off of their 2017 Ford Mustang. Dollar General reported that a female suspect pushed a cart full of items out the front door without paying for them. The crook didn’t anticipate a manager was stopping by and observed all the un-bagged items. So the thief left empty handed, instead of going home with her $96 worth of assorted items. When this happens it sure does make us cops feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.
We only had one arrest this past week. Ofc. Lopez made a felony DWI arrest on Main St. Thankfully a caring citizen reported the reckless driver and it might have saved a life.
All the party goers headed out of town to Poteet for the Strawberry Festival. They will get a break for a few days and then we anticipate them heading right over to SA to partake in ten days of Fiesta. As I grow older my travel destinations seem to be based on easy access to restrooms and convenient parking so I’m not attracted to big festivals. If somebody wanted me to be a king of something or a grand marshal of a parade I might make an exception.
