Devine Garden Club has 400 seed balls ready for Fall Festival

Garden Club members at National Night Out.

The Devine Garden Club is happy to report that we have had an eventful September and October. Our first meeting got us off to a great start, even if we had to reschedule our annual Wildflower Seed Ball Creation until the following week.
Texas Wildflower Seed Ball Creation
There were ten ladies that gathered in the backyard of a member’s home to enjoy “playing in dirt.” Those creating the seed balls were: Pat Tampke, DG Lawrence, Sonia Lance, Sondra Rackley, Susan Schott, Andrea Vasquez, Susan Wisenbaker, Dorothy Saunders, Miriam Garcia, and Sandra Stacy. These ladies created over 400 seed balls that will be ready for sale at the Devine’s Fall Fest on November 4.
National Night Out
A special thank you to the Devine Police Department and the City of Devine for inviting us to participate in the first citywide National Night Out. Our ladies had a great time helping teach children about planting wild flowers and the creation of small bird feeders for their yards. Those participating were: Sondra Rackley, Pat Tampke, DG Lawrence, Susan Schott, Dorothy Saunders, Sonia and Hal Lance, Larry and Sandra Stacy.
Four Corners Report
The Four Corners clean-up crew has been busy working to spruce up the four corners, but we were rain-delayed. We finally got to the Shell Station corner with the following participating: Sondra Rackley, Ronnie Rackley, Sandra Stacy, and Dorothy Saunders. We were blessed to have some wonderful spontaneous volunteers show up to help us gather all the clippings. These kind and thoughtful volunteers were from www.citykidsadventures.org. The students are from San Antonio, but the two sponsors for this trip were from Devine. They delayed their dove hunt to help us, and it was very much appreciated. Thank you, City Kids Adventures!
Next up
The garden club is looking forward to creating scarecrows in November and preparing for our area wide gardening event in January.
Happy Gardening!
